The Halliwell sisters aka the Charmed Ones are powerful witches fighting evil on Charmed. Near-death experiences are a regular occurrence for Prue (Shannen Doherty), Piper (Holly Marie Combs), and Phoebe Halliwell (Alyssa Milano). And sometimes while battling demons they die and are brought back to life.

The first time one of the Halliwell sisters dies is in Charmed Season 1 Episode 20: “The Power of Two.” Piper takes a business trip to Hawaii leaving Prue and Phoebe at home.

Without Piper there to act as a buffer, Prue and Phoebe try their best to get along. Phoebe sees a ghost kill an innocent during a tour of Alcatraz Island, forcing her and Prue to work together.

The sisters work together to stop the vengeful spirit. But to do so one of them has to die and become a spirit.

Prue and Phoebe hatch a plan to take a potion that stops the heart. But it’s only for one of them to take. Prue volunteers, putting her trust in Phoebe that she’ll revive her after four minutes or she’ll be dead.

Prue takes the potion and her spirit leaves her body. Meanwhile, Andy Trudeau (Ted King)

shows up at the Manor to find Prue unconscious on the kitchen floor. He starts giving her CPR before the vanquish is complete.

The ghost tries to stab Andy giving Prue enough time to finish the spell. Andy goes back to reviving Prue and her spirit returns to her body.

Prue’s killed by a warlock in the ‘Charmed’ Season 2 finale

Prue dies again in Charmed Season 2 Episode 22: “Be Careful What You Witch For.”

It also marks Doherty’s directorial debut.

The Halliwell sisters encounter a genie played by 3rd Rock from the Sun actor French Stewart. Leo Wyatt (Brian Krause) warns them genies are notorious tricksters.

They may grant a wish but there are always unforeseen consequences. That’s why the Piper, Phoebe, and Prue decide not to take the genie up on his offer to grant three wishes.

Each sister accidentally makes wishes the genie grants. They backfire and Prue becomes 17 again while Phoebe gets an active power she can’t control. Unbeknownst to them, a warlock hired the genie to take them down.

The warlock goes after teenage Prue and stabs her. The genie takes back the wishes but adult Prue’s still dead. Piper and Phoebe get the genie out of the bottle and wish for Prue to be alive again. The wish is granted and the Power of Three is restored.

‘Charmed’ kills off Prue after 3 seasons

Prue dies in Charmed Season 3. Directed by Doherty, Charmed Season 3 Episode 22: “All Hell Breaks Loose” sees Prue die at the hand of Shax.

Charmed Season 3 ends on a cliffhanger with Prue and Piper unconscious after battling Shax. It’s not until the season 4 opener fans learn of Prue’s passing.
