Celebrities have access to a life filled with luxuries that most of us cannot even imagine, but that privilege also often comes with the pressure to maintain certain unrealistic beauty standards. With the means to cover extravagant expenses and the pestering need to stay forever youthful and flawless, it’s no wonder that so many stars turn to plastic surgery as a solution to their woes.

While the procedures are likely more common among the rich and famous than anywhere else, they haven’t yet lost their taboo status. Many stars deny having gone under the knife even when the alterations seem obvious to fans. Others truly haven’t had any work done and become the target of plastic surgery accusations that have no basis in reality.

When Chelsea Handler found herself being scrutinized for potential surgical alterations, she shut down the critics with a perfect joke.

Chelsea Handler started in comedy at a young age

Handler was just 19 when she relocated from New Jersey to LA with her sights set on making it in the entertainment world. Very quickly, comedy became her niche, and she started performing in stand-up shows.

That work led to an appearance on Oxygen’s Girls Behaving Badly, a hidden camera show that both showcased and honed Handler’s bold public persona.

Handler often turned to a subject she knew very well in order to get new material for her comedy: herself. Self-deprecating and irreverent humor was her strong suit, and in 2005, she released a book titled My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One-Night Stands.

If anyone had any doubts that Handler was making a name for herself as an edgy star, the frank discussion of her own love life and relationship failures put them to rest.

Chelsea Handler is known for her candid honesty

Handler has a reputation for being a comedian who is unafraid to tell it like it is. Her bold, outspoken style has become a cornerstone of her persona, and fans know to expect the unexpected when it comes to what Handler will say next.

As one might imagine, the star has ruffled more than a few feathers in her work as a stand-up comedian, talk show host, and writer. Many celebrities have found themselves in her crosshairs over the years.

Handler has also been very vocal in her personal life. She frequently discusses her political views and is a very outspoken critic of Donald Trump. Though her criticism has some bipartisanship to it because she also had some barbs for New York Governor (and Democrat) Andrew Cuomo after he responded poorly, at least in Handler’s view, to the comedian’s public confession that she had a crush on him.

Not everything is a joke for Handler, however. She has also been open about her own struggles with mental health and shared openly about her experiences with therapy and its impact.

Chelsea Handler snapped a joke in response to plastic surgery rumors

You might think someone who is so open about everything from her one-night stands to her therapy sessions would have no problem owning up to plastic surgery, but some critics were convinced that Handler had secretly gone under the knife. As Wonderwall reports, a snarky 2015 US Weekly article suggested that Chandler had her breasts lifted because she was anxious about them looking “saggy.”

Chandler, true to form, had the perfect response: “Um…there have been a lot of men who’ve touched my boobies, but not one of them has ever been a doctor.” To make the message even clearer, Handler tweeted out a topless photo to prove she had nothing to hide. They say that visual aids go a long way toward getting the point across!
