Chelsea Handler Once Asked Evan Handler If They Were Related

There are a lot of relatives in Hollywood. The business breeds nepotism, and talent often runs in families. Nicolas Cage, Sofia Coppola, and Jason Schwartzman are actually all first cousins. And that’s just one example of relatives in Hollywood. There are plenty more. So it’s not a stretch to think that Chelsea Handler may be related to Evan Handler.

Both share a last name, and both have a talent for entertaining. According to a video from Wired, it’s actually one of the most googled questions about Chelsea Handler. 

Chelsea Handler is a late night legend 

Handler was one of the few women with her own late night show. Over the years, she’s become a late night legend. The host didn’t start out in the late night game. She traveled to Hollywood at the age of 19 with dreams of becoming an actress. When she got to LA, however, Chelsea Handler found she was more suited to comedy. Her standup shows were a hit, so she put acting on the back burner and focused on comedy. 

She published a hilarious non-fiction novel, and then found her way to the late night scene. She appeared a few times on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The hype from those spots led to her own sketch comedy show on E!, The Chelsea Handler Show. 

Unfortunately, like a lot of her projects, it was short-lived. She had another late night style show also on E!. That show, Chelsea Lately, lasted seven years before eventual cancellation. Since then Chelsea Handler has worked with Netflix on various projects, including documentaries and an attempt at a live show on the streaming platform. 

Evan Handler is most well known for his ‘Sex and the City’ role 

Chelsea and Evan Handler have completely different career trajectories. While Chelsea Handler got into comedy at the beginning of her career, Evan Handler has spent most of his career acting in drama series. He is most well known for playing Charlotte York’s dream man on Sex and the City. Although Harry Goldenblatt doesn’t seem like he’d be a good fit for the posh Charlotte, it turns out appearances are not that important in a long term relationship. 

In fact, Charlotte and Harry are probably a better couple than Mr. Big and Carrie. Although Carrie is the main character of the show, and fans waited a decade to see her finally get together with Mr. Big, their relationship was always rocky. Mr. Big dumped Carrie on more than one occasion, while Harry and Charlotte were always there for one another, through thick and thin. Evan Handler will be back for And Just Like That, the new Sex and the City reboot. It’s unclear if Chris Noth, the actor who plays Mr. Big, will be returning. If he doesn’t, it may not be a big loss. As long as Charlotte and Harry are still together, fans can believe in love. 

Evan and Chelsea are not related 

Both Chelsea and Evan Handler are stars, and they have the same last name. But according to a Wired video with Chelsea Handler, the two are not related. 

In the video, Chelsea Handler is discussing the most googled questions about herself. The number one question is “Is Evan Handler related to Chelsea Handler?” Chelsea says that they are not related, but even she wasn’t sure at one point. According to Chelsea Handler, she had to ask Evan Handler if the two were related. “I asked him the same exact thing, and he’s not related to me, or so he says.”
