‘Chicago Fire’: Could Matt Casey’s Ex Gabby Dawson Return for the Season 10 Finale?

Chicago Fire fans can rejoice at the news that Matt Casey will return for the season 10 finale. In fact, several other familiar faces will be back before the season is over. Monica Raymund’s character Gabby Dawson married Matthew Casey in season 5. She left the show at the end of season 6, and according to showrunner David Haas, it doesn’t look like she will be back for the season 10 finale.

Gabby Dawson was a paramedic on Ambulance 61 and a candidate on Truck 81. She had a romantic relationship with Matthew Casey throughout the earlier seasons of Chicago Fire. The pair get married at the courthouse in season 5 and even temporarily foster a child named Louie together. Eventually, they make the heartbreaking decision of letting Louie live with his biological family. In season 6, Dawson and Casey split up when she makes the decision to move back to Puerto Rico.

Raymund has returned for guest appearances in seasons 7 and 8 of Chicago Fire. According to Deadline, NBC planned for her to appear at the end of season 9. However, she was unable to do so due to Covid restrictions. In season 10, Jesse Spencer took his leave from Chicago Fire as well. “I wish Jesse all the best. I love him so much. They were so lucky to have him and I’m excited to see what he does next,” Raymund told Deadline upon hearing the news.

Will Gabby Dawson appear in the ‘Chicago Fire’ Season 10 finale?

NBC recently announced that both Jesse Spencer and Kara Killmer will appear in the season 10 finale of Chicago Fire. Since Raymund was unable to make her guest appearance last season, it’s understandable that some fans are wondering if she will turn up before the end of season 10. However, that won’t be the case.

“I actually spoke to Monica [on Monday], she’s directing an episode of my friend’s upcoming TV series National Treasure. So she’s busy,” showrunner David Haas told Deadline. “She’s been directing a lot. She’s put Dawson behind her. Andrea and I convinced her to come back a few times but I don’t think she’s going to come back anytime soon.”

Raymund has certainly been keeping busy since leaving Chicago Fire. The actor landed the lead role of Jackie Quiñones in the Starz TV series Hightown. Along with National Treasure, Raymond has also directed episodes of FBI, Law & Order: Organized Crime, and The Endgame, according to IMDb.

Will Sylvie Brett and Matthew Casey break up in the ‘Chicago Fire’ Season 10 finale?

Although Casey moved to Oregon, he has maintained a long-distance relationship with his girlfriend, paramedic Sylvie Brett. While speaking with Deadline, executive producer Andrea Newman made it clear that Brett isn’t leaving Firehouse 51, despite her absence from the last few episodes.

“Yes, Sylvie will be back for the finale,” said Newman. “She’s a full-time member of 51. She was gone while visiting Casey but when she’s back, she’s back. She and Casey will have to figure out their relationship going forward, which is what they’ll be doing in the finale.” With this in mind, it seems possible that a Casey/Brett breakup is in store before the end of season 10.
