Grainger was first introduced during Chicago Fire Season 9, Episode 4 (titled “Funny What Things Remind Us”). His team showed up to see if they could assist on a call where a woman was pinned inside her car by a sign. However, by the time Grainger arrived, everything was under control. He decided to stick around so he could help block traffic. While Grainger was assisting, he noticed Sylvie. He made some small talk and got a little flirty.

Later, Grainger made his move. However, Matt didn’t seem thrilled to see another man closing in on Sylvie. When Grainger came to the firehouse to help out while Herrmann is away, Matt took his frustration out on him and made his life difficult the entire time he was there. Grainger confronted Matt about his behavior, but it doesn’t look like this fight is over.

Greg Grainger is played by actor Jon-Michael Ecker. One of Ecker’s early acting roles was in a 2011 episode of the television series The Power of Destiny. He got his big break after appearing in the Colombian drama Popland! From 2012 to 2013, he played Pablo Peralta in the series Fearless Heart.

Ecker joined the cast of Gossip Girl: Acapulco in 2013. He played Nicolás ‘Nico’ de la Vega for 26 episodes. Ecker made his film debut in the 2014 movie Catinflas. From 2015 to 2016, he played The Lion in Narcos. His other acting roles include appearances in Queen of the South and Firefly Lane.

What’s next for Jon-Michael Ecker?

It looks like the Chicago Fire star will be staying busy this year. As of this writing, Ecker has two projects in the works. He is slated to appear in Listless and the TV movie For Love.

Sylvie thinks Matt is still so in love with Dawson that he can’t make a decision about who he wants to be with. His past relationship has him feeling confused. Showrunner Derek Haas told TV Insider he agrees with Sylvie. Matt might not be sure what he’s feeling right now. When Sylvie pushed him away, that likely made things even more confusing for him.

“It’s the kind of thing you can try to brush aside but we the audience watched it — for six years and then again in December 2019 — and so I think she’s well within her bounds to call him out on that and maybe he isn’t being completely honest with himself,” said Haas during a TV Insider interview.

Right now, it’s tough to tell how this love quadrangle between Grainger, Sylvie, Matt, and Dawson will play out. Will Grainger and Sylvie start a relationship and become serious? Will Matt reconnect with Dawson and pick up where they left off? Will Matt and Sylvie stop playing games and move forward with a relationship?

There are so many possibilities here. We’re hoping someone makes a decision soon and sticks with it. This will-they-or-won’t-they scenario has gone on long enough.

Chicago Fire airs Wednesdays on NBC at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
