Relationships can get complicated on Chicago Med. One of the many relationships that took place on the show was with Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) and Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto). Unfortunately, things didn’t work out for them.

Now that Will and Natalie are both single, should they give their relationship another try? Will and Dr. Hannah Asher recently decided to break up, so there’s a possibility for something to happen. Actor Nick Gehlfuss has some thoughts on Natalie and Will’s relationship.

Gehlfuss has been playing the role of Dr. Will Halstead on Chicago Hope since the show first aired in 2015. Natalie first caught Will’s eye at the very beginning. At the time, she was pregnant and newly widowed. Her late husband was in the military, and he was killed in action.

Will began to fall for Natalie as he was encouraging her and staying by her side until her son’s birth. The two eventually started dating and even planned to get married, but it all fell apart.

What Nick Gehlfuss thinks about Natalie and Will

Does Gehlfuss think Natalie and Will belong together? The actor told TV Fanatic he thinks the producers did the right thing when they separated the former couple.

“I think if we’re talking about do I ship [Will] right now, with Natalie, I’d say I agree with where the show took it because it did not seem to be the right time for both of them,” says Gehlfuss. “And I’m not blaming any one or the other. It’s just if it’s not working, you can’t force it.”

Although some fans would love to see Will and Natalie reunite, there’s one thing that might stop them from getting back together. It seems like Natalie and Dr. Crockett Marcel are interested in each other. Natalie and Crockett have been flirting and trading long glances. It looks like there’s something brewing between these two.

If Will is interested in dating Natalie again, he’ll have to act fast. We wouldn’t be surprised if Crockett decided to make a move on Natalie. The feelings between them seem mutual, so she would likely accept if he asked her on a date.

Fans are split on whether Natalie and Crockett should start dating. Some love the idea while others are strongly against it. Viewers took to Twitter to share their opinions. Among those who disagree, their reasoning is that Crockett seems “shady,” and acts as if he’s hiding something. Others just can’t bear the thought of Will and Natalie never getting back together.

What’s next for Dr. Will Halstead?

Right now, Will is focused on nursing his hurt feelings after he was passed over for a promotion. Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) was recently named emergency department chief, and Will is upset because he has been at the hospital longer and has more experience.

When Will asked Sharon (S. Epatha Merkerson) during season 6, episode 2 (titled “Those Things Hidden in Plain Sight”) why he didn’t get the job, she told him she didn’t even consider him because he tends to make reckless decisions. We’re interested to see if Will can keep his feelings in check and do his job despite having to answer to someone with less experience. This should be an interesting season.

Chicago Med airs Wednesdays on NBC at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
