Magnolia Network is launching in Canada

After their successful lunch stateside, Magnolia Network is expanding into Canada in March and fans are overly excited with the news.

“Mark your calendars! #MagnoliaNetwork is coming to Canada on March 28–bringing inspiring original series to Canadian TVs across home and design, food and gardening, the arts and more,” read the official Instagram post.

Fans from outside the United States had been patiently waiting for the Magnolia Network content to premiere in their country and it’s finally happening. It wasn’t long before viewers weighed in and shared their excitement about the network’s launch.

“It’s about time,” a fan replied.

“Whoop that’s awesome,” a follower added.

“Yayyyyyyyy!!!! So happy to hear some good news!” an Instagram user posted enthusiastically.

“Finally!!! Can’t wait!!” another fan mentioned.

“Such exciting news. I cannot wait to see all the new shows, and some older ones from the DIY Network,” another follower commented.

“Hurray!!! As a Texan who immigrated to Canada, this makes me SO HAPPY!” another Instagram user posted.

How Chip and Joanna Gaines cast for Magnolia Network

U.S. fans already know what the Magnolia Network looks like and soon Canada will experience the shows curated by Chip and Joanna. The couple recently opened up about what it takes to pitch a show to the network and what they look for to order the series and make it to the air.

“One of the things we’ve seen is that thread of vulnerability. People have to say, ‘I’m willing to put myself out there. I don’t even know how to be on TV,’” Joanna told Variety in an interview. “We’re like, ‘Hey, it doesn’t matter. Forget the cameras are there, we just want to highlight what you are doing authentically in your life.’”

Joanna explained that she wants the talent to put “themselves out there in a very vulnerable and beautiful way.”

“I think when you do that, and the guard is down, there’s no act, there’s no ‘Hey, this is your script.’ It truly is the life that they’re living,” she added. “You can’t help but be inspired. You can’t help but go “What is it that I need to be doing?” We’ve had so many people write us letters, and even connect with us on social media just saying, ‘After watching the show, I’ve been really inspired to go do the thing that I was meant to do.’ So it’s amazing to see the trickle effect of when people put themselves out there how inspires others to do the same.”

Magnolia Network was delayed due to the pandemic

Initially, Magnolia Network was supposed to premiere in 2020 but the pandemic shut down production of all the shows. Instead, the programming that was ready was launched via the discovery+ streaming service and fans were able to get a sneak peek of the shows. Magnolia Network finally launched on linear TV at the beginning of 2022, which Joanna said she was grateful for.

“I think, looking back, we couldn’t have planned it any better,” Joanna told Good Morning America. “It’s January, it’s a new year. Just the message of hope and inspiration from these storytellers and the stories that they’re telling… The world is ready for that kind of beauty to be seen.”

Magnolia Network is already available in the U.S. on cable and through the discovery+ service.
