Though Chloe East has been acting for the last nine years, Generation has certainly marked a turning point in her career. Though the actor is still portraying a character who is younger than she is, the show doesn’t shy away from touching on more adult themes and experiences. Furthermore, because the show found a home on HBO, it boasts some grittier moments. Of course, another benefit to the show being on HBO is potential exposure to a huge audience.

Avid TV watchers have seen how the right network can help a show (and its cast) skyrocket to success. One only has to look at the success of Euphoria to see what’s possible. Of course, it’s hard to tell what a trajectory of a show will look like regardless of what network is behind it. Some shows attract a huge audience right off the bat. Meanwhile, others experience a kind of slow burn and gain more fans over time. Though East tried not to have expectations for Generation, she did share that she couldn’t help thinking about what the reaction to the show would be from time to time. In a conversation with Interview Magazine, she got candid about her hopes for the drama series.

Chloe East revealed her expectations for ‘Generation’

“I don’t know if I have any,” East responded when asked if she had expectations for Generation. “I can’t help my mind but let it wander and think of the best case scenarios and the worst case scenarios. But there is talk about how great this show’s going to be and how big this show is going to be. I try to think of the worst and hope for the best.”

But even though East considered the best-case scenarios for the way Generation might be received, she shared that becoming a super famous actor wasn’t on her radar at all. Despite having hundreds of thousands of people following her life and career, the Next Level actor is happy to lead a life outside of the spotlight. However, that doesn’t mean that East doesn’t want the show itself to gain popularity. In fact, she expressed hopes for the opposite.

The actor shared that she hopes the HBO series doesn’t change her life

“I do hope a lot of people see it, but I hope my life doesn’t change,” East shared about Generation. “I don’t hope to become a crazy star or anything. I would be very happy living a nice, humble life in the woods and having very little. But at the same time, I want this show to be seen and I want people to love it, and to talk to me about it. But I get very nervous thinking about becoming big.” Only time will tell if Generation turns East into even more of a household name. However, fans of the series will be happy to know that new episodes begin streaming on June 17, 2021.
