Fans can never live without her. Since creating her individual Instagram account, Chloe Bailey (who performs under the stage name Chloe) offered insight into her creative process, both as a solo artist and with Chloe x Halle.

One video of the artist just “playing around” with music on her computer earned almost a million views, as did a video of her dancing. In 2021, the artist released her first original single titled “Have Mercy,” earning international recognition.

Chloe elaborated on the meaning behind her song ‘Have Mercy’

In 2021, Chloe Bailey released her chart-topping single titled “Have Mercy,” complete with a colorful music video, iconic dance moves, and empowering lyrics. During a video with Genius, Chloe elaborated on the lyrics, “he so goofy, call me daddy.”

“‘Cause I wear the pants,” Chloe said. “I’m the one dominating you. So, that’s why I said that, and then he introduced me to his Papi. He takes me home to his mom, his dad because I’m the one to show off.”

Since this song dropped, Chloe performed at the MTV Video Music Awards and the American Music Awards. The track earned over 80 million plays on the streaming platform Spotify, with some fans even creating their own TikTok videos and Instagram reels with the audio.

“It was about me responding to everyone and almost really owning who I am and accepting myself and my body,” the “Have Mercy” artist said during an interview with Refinery29. “The person that I am on the song is where I’m trying to get mentally.”
