Chrissy Teigen shared that the unfiltered photo of Khloé Kardashian prompted her to discuss it in therapy, admitting it brought up her own body insecurity issues.

Teigen made the revelation during an appearance on the Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen After Show when Cohen shared a fan’s question asking for her reaction to the photo.

Kardashian posted a video and photos on Instagram in early April to support those who deal with body issues. “The photo that was posted this week was beautiful,” according to a statement from Kardashian’s team, CNN reports. “But as someone who has struggled with body image her whole life, when someone takes a photo of you that isn’t flattering in bad lighting or doesn’t capture your body the way it is after working to hard to get it to this point — and then shares it to the world — you should have every right to ask for it not to be shared — no matter who you are.”

Khloé Kardashian should be proud of the photo

Teigen said she initially went in several different directions when she viewed the photo. But the image ultimately became a gateway for discussion and exploration into her own body issues. “Honestly, I went like a million different ways with it,” she said. “And I actually ended up talking about it in therapy, oddly enough.”

“Because of my own body insecurity issues and what celebrities have done to people in distorting their image of what a real human body looks like,” she continued. “And you get frustrated because like look at Khloé. And of course, I’m like ‘you’re so beautiful, you’re so strong.’ And the change she’s made to her body, she’s so proud of. Everybody’s so proud of.”

“And you want someone to be like, ‘f**k yes, this is my body,'” she added. “In any light. So at the same time, I’m like my God, anyone’s able to say and have any kind of portrayal of their body that they want the people to see. If she didn’t want that photo to be out there, she wouldn’t let that photo be out. And that’s fine too.”

Chrissy Teigen tries to work through body insecurities every day

“I think there can be two truths and I think the Internet often forgets there’s two truths,” she added. “In that, they can’t possibly believe that someone would not want this photo out. But also be proud of that photo. If something like that happened to me, I would want people to know that this is a strong, powerful photo of myself. And I’m proud of it.”

Adding, “It will go down in history, the negative things that I have thought of myself when I should have thought of my powerful self,” she admitted. Cohen looked upset. “I know, it’s what we’ve done to ourselves,” Teigen added. “It’s just something I try to work through every day and it’s the industry that I’ve been in for so long.”

“So all you can do is hope for other people to not have to go through this,” she said. “So I’m willing to go through this bullsh*t and to show off my body in any way I can for other people to feel better about theirs.”
