Chrissy Teigen Just Revealed That She’s Four Weeks Sober and Fans Had a Lot to Say About It

Chrissy Teigen has always been very open with her fans. Most times, her social media accounts showcase her playing with her kids, chilling with her husband John Legend, or getting ready for some event. In most of her videos, there is one thing that is almost always present, a glass of wine. Now, Teigen has revealed the reason there hasn’t been any alcohol in her videos lately.

Chrissy’s issues with alcohol

In 2017, Teigen first opened up about her troublesome relationship with alcohol and revealed that she was taking a break.

“I was, point blank, just drinking too much,” she told Cosmopolitan at the time.

“I got used to being in hair and makeup and having a glass of wine,” she said. “Then that glass of wine would carry over into me having one before the awards show. And then a bunch at the awards show. And then I felt bad for making kind of an a*s of myself to people that I really respected. And that feeling, there’s just nothing like that. You feel horrible. It’s not a good look for me, for John, for anybody.”

Though the alcohol usage wasn’t neccesarily ruining Teigen’s life, she decided it was time to slow down.

“Nobody really brought it up to me,” she said. “They just assumed that it was okay because I always felt okay the next morning. I knew in my heart it wasn’t right. It makes you very short with people. People think it’s cutesy and fun to go on these boozy brunches, but there’s more to it. I’ve never once been like, ‘I’m sure glad I had that boozy brunch!’”

Chrissy Teigen is sober

On Tuesday, Teigen posted a video of her dancing around in a swimsuit. When one fan commented and said, “I need whatever drugs you’re on,” Teigen revealed that she was four weeks sober.

Immediately, fans began commending Teigen for her choice and sharing their own stories.

“10 years sober and counting!” one fan commented. “Had I not gotten sober I would have never survived the suicide of my fiancé, my mother’s battle with breast cancer, nor losing my 30 y/o brother to cancer. Because I’m sober, I’ve been able to be there for those I love in a way I never thought possible. You go girl!”

“Day 52 for me today!” another person wrote. “Just want to have a clear mind, heart, and soul! And be a good Momma! We got this!”

“Going without alcohol makes you feel so much better physically and mentally,” one follower commented.

Others commented that it was time for Teigen to make a change.

“People have been commenting for years that she drinks way too much and she’s always defended herself,” another person wrote. “She must’ve had an aha moment and realized maybe there is a problem.”

Not all of the comments were kind. Some brought up Teigen’s recent pregnancy that ended in a miscarriage.

“4 weeks? Weren‘t you sober during your pregnancy?” one person said.

But there were more than a few fans that came to Teigen’s defense against rude commenters.

“You’re an amazing woman… people are so disgusting with their comments… hating on you for creating a beautiful life that you DESERVE,” one person said. “Keep shining queen!!”
