“Home sweet home” doesn’t seem so sweet when you’re battling a 90-minute commute with children in the car. After a year of enduring just that, Christina Haack, her new husband Josh Hall, and Haack’s three children are moving back up the coast from Dana Point to Newport Beach, California. The move will cut out a drive that detracted from the family’s coastal view.

The HGTV design maven will trade one Orange County home for another and hopefully regain some free time in her schedule after shuttling back and forth between her family’s multiple home bases.

Newport Beach became Christina Haack’s hometown after moving from Yorba Linda when she and her first husband, Tarek El Moussa, divorced. She opted for another fresh start following her separation and subsequent divorce from Ant Anstead in 2021.

“We’ve been here for three years, and we wanted more of a coastal vibe, so we decided to sell, and we’re looking at other properties now,” Haack told People. “I just like a fresh start.”

Haack found what she was looking for in Dana Point, roughly 20 miles down the coast from Newport Beach. The newly built five-bedroom, 6,084-square-foot pad sits in a gated community on the beach and offers total Christina on the Coast vibes. Realtor.com gave a glimpse into the home, boasting seven baths, a pool, fire pit, game room, and theater.

But less than a year later, Haack gave an Instagram tour of the redesigned elements she implemented — and then announced she was moving again. According to House Beautiful, she recently sold the Dana Point home for $11.5 million. However, details are scant about her latest digs.

Haack still adores the ocean view that drew her to the Dana Point home. But it wasn’t enough to make up for the logistics she encountered while dividing her life between that home and her family’s connections back in Newport Beach.

“We still LOVE the view but among other things we don’t love the 90 minute round trip drive to and from the kids school,” the design star wrote on Instagram. “Back to Newport we go. Near school and friends and work.”

Haack added that her new home with Josh Hall and her children will be their “long term family home.” After deciding she’s ready to stop flipping houses on Flip or Flop, she appears ready to do the same in her personal life and settle into a home her family will grow with.

“Coming from a restless soul my soul is ready to rest,” she wrote. “At 38 I’m exactly where I want to be and can’t wait to make the next house our home.”

Besides the school drop-off, co-parenting with her exes was likely a factor for the relocation. Haack shares custody of her daughter Taylor, 11, and son Brayden, 6, with El Moussa and co-parents her 2-year-old son Hudson with Anstead. El Moussa shares a Newport Beach home with his wife Heather, House Beautiful reports. Anstead is in Laguna Beach, which splits the distance between Dana Point and Newport Beach.

As Christina Haack settles into a new marriage and new home, she’ll also juggle production on two HGTV shows. The real estate mogul announced in March 2022 that the cable network ordered additional episodes of Christina on the Coast, which currently has three seasons.

Filming is already underway for the fourth season. Meanwhile, Haack will also film a new venture, Christina in the Country. It will follow the TV personality taking on projects in the Nashville area, where she owns a vacation home. HGTV announced it will air six episodes of a docuseries set in the South in late 2022.

“I love that I get the best of both worlds — the coast and the country,” Haack said in the network’s bulletin. “It’s an incredible opportunity to get to work in Tennessee, our home away from home.”
