‘The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It’ will release June 4

The next installment in The Conjuring franchise “reveals a chilling story of terror, murder, and unknown evil that shocked even experienced real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren,” per the film’s official synopsis. “One of the most sensational cases from their files, it starts with a fight for the soul of a young boy, then takes them beyond anything they’d ever seen before, to mark the first time in U.S. history that a murder suspect would claim demonic possession as a defense.”

The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It will release in the United Kingdom on May 28. United States movie theaters will release the film on June 4. The Devil Made Me Do It will also be available to stream on HBO Max the same day.

The upcoming James Wan movie details another Ed and Lorraine Warren case

Like the other movies in The Conjuring universe, one of the Warren’s famous cases inspired The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It. The story involves siblings David and Debbie Glatzel and her boyfriend, Arne Johnson.

As the story goes, young David claimed to have seen an evil spirit who threatened to harm him and his family. After experiencing supernatural attacks, the Warrens were brought in to help.

The Warrens orchestrated exorcisms for the Glatzel family. During that process, Johnson received a warning about a future murder. Allegedly the spirit possessing David fled his body and entered Arne’s, who later claimed to have been possessed while he killed his landlord, Alan Bono.
