Joy Duggar and Austin Forsyth knew each other for years before they wed

When Duggar and Forsyth first met, there were certainly no relationship sparks. The two were only kids, and Forsyth is four years older than his now-wife. Forsyth and his family moved nearby the Duggar family when he was young, and he started attending the Duggars’ church.

When Duggar turned 18, Forsyth was already into his twenties. But he started to see her differently now that she had become an adult. The two entered into a courtship pretty quickly, and they wed in May 2017, when Duggar was only 19.

The two have grown on fans quite a bit since their wedding

At first, fans weren’t convinced the couple’s love was real. There has been speculation that Jim Bob Duggar might arrange some of his kids’ marriages, and Duggar and Forsyth were always one of those couples that fans felt could have been arranged. But three years later, they’ve become fan favorites, and people now believe they’re truly in love.

The Duggar family tends to abide by very traditional gender roles, but Duggar and Forsyth seem to have slightly more equality in their marriage than other couples. They work together on their house-flipping business and seem to take on equal roles in parenting their son, Gideon.

Forsyth hinted that some friendly competition keeps their marriage strong

Duggar and Forsyth recently celebrated their third wedding anniversary, and it was clear from their Instagram posts that they both have a lot of love for each other. In Forsyth’s caption, he hinted at a sweet way the two keep their marriage strong: Friendly competition in mini golf.

“Joy, the last three years have been the best of my life… p.s. I love playing mini golf with you!” part of Forsyth’s caption read. Writing something about the couple’s mini golf dates went beyond the standard mushy caption and revealed something the two truly love to do together.

The two are expecting their second child this summer

Duggar and Forsyth announced in the spring that they’re expecting their second child together — a little girl. Last year, Duggar and Forsyth announced a second pregnancy, but they tragically lost the baby at 20 weeks — and they would have had a girl. It took a while for the couple to heal from their loss, but they were thrilled to learn that another little girl will be joining their family this summer.

Duggar and Forsyth are parents to Gideon, their only child, and fans have suggested that Forsyth seems like the sweetest Duggar dad. He has a close bond with Gideon, and people are excited to see the kind of father he’ll be to his daughter.
