With 19 children and nearly as many grandchildren, the Duggar family has their hands full. While it would seem that Michelle Duggar doesn’t enjoy a particularly close relationship with her adult children, the grandkids are seen around the family compound relatively often. Instead of calling Michelle “grandma,” it looks like the kids have a different name for her, and it’s a recent development. So, what are the Duggar kidlets calling Michelle these days? Well, it seems they are calling her “Lolli.”

Michelle Duggar apparently goes by “Lolli” to most of her grandchildren

Anna Duggar shocked Instagram back in September 2019, when she revealed that one of her favorite days of the year is celebrating her mother-in-law’s birthday. Yes, it seems like a weird day to pick as a favorite, but after fans had a chance to digest that fact, they noticed that a new nickname had apparently developed for Michelle. Anna noted that Michelle is going by “Lolli” these days. Anna’s post is the first time it has ever been mentioned, and she made it sound like it was a relatively recent development.

According to Moms.com, followers were curious about how the nickname came to be, but Anna never bothered to answer. Followers now know that apparently, Lolli isn’t just used between Michelle and Anna and Josh Duggar’s kids. Lauren Swanson, who married Josiah Duggar in June 2018, has also taken to using the nickname. Lauren and Josiah welcomed their daughter, Bella Milagro, in November 2018, just a few days after Kendra Caldwell and Joseph Duggar announced the birth of their second child.

Fans may have uncovered the reason why Michelle goes by “Lolli”

Lauren Swanson may have inadvertently given away the reason why Michelle goes by “Lolli” now. Jim Bob Duggar, perhaps in an effort to rebrand himself, is going by “Pops” these days. So Michelle is “Lolli,” and Jim Bob is “Pops”; together, they are LolliPops.

Reddit users have been discussing the nickname since it was first revealed, but it’s hard to ascertain when the nicknames started. Until September 2019, it appears as though Michelle was using the more traditional “Grandma” with her grandchildren. She first became a grandmother in 2009 when Anna gave birth to her first child, Mackynzie Duggar. Mackynzie was born two months before Michelle gave birth to her 19th child, Josie Duggar.

Michelle isn’t the only celebrity grandma to go by an alternative name

While Michelle’s nickname of “Lolli” is certainly unique, she’s not the only famous grandmother who has chosen to forgo the traditional names for a grandmother. Kris Jenner, for example, doesn’t go by Grandma or Nanna, either. Instead, the children of Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, and Rob Kardashian call her “Lovey.”

According to Sixty and Me, Goldie Hawn has chosen to go by “GoGo” to her grandchildren. Hawn has three children and six grandchildren. Blythe Danner’s grandchildren call her LaLo, and Susan Sarandon goes by “Honey” to her grandkids. No one else seems to have picked “Lolli,” but Danner’s chosen name is pretty close. We are sure there is no connection there, though.
