‘Cruel Summer’ Episode 6 Recap: 1993

In 1993, Jeanette, Mallory Higgins (Harley Quinn Smith), and Vincent Fuller (Allius Barnes) headed to the mall to keep checking off items on their summer list. Although Jeanette already stole Martin Harris’ (Blake Lee) yearbook, she assists Vince in stealing something, anyway. Number 13 on the summer list is “stealing.” Vince wanted to skip over it and work on number 14 instead, sneaking into a movie. However, Mallory insisted they head to the mall to steal first.

After Vince steals a CD from one of the stores, a sensor goes off, and a security guard begins to chase the teens. Instead of letting Vince get caught, Jeanette takes the CD and tells him to run. When the security guard takes her into his office, viewers see that Jamie Henson (Froy Gutierrez) is already there. He laughs at Jeanette and asks what she could have done to arrive in the same place as him. Jamie got caught jumping in the mall fountain.

Tennille Peterson’s mother, Tanya

In 1993, Tennille Peterson’s mother, Tanya (Kim Jackson Davis), helps Martin Harris (Blake Lee) pick out clothing in a local store. Meanwhile, Kate and Mallory overhear their conversation from the fitting room. Tanya asks him out on a date, and he agrees after some pressuring. Later in Cruel Summer Episode 6, Jeanette snuck back into Martin Harris’ house again and overheard personal information between him and Tanya.

She told him that her ex-husband is not Tennille’s father, but she makes him pay child support anyway. Tanya also pushed herself on Martin by spilling her wine all over her shirt and then taking it off.

When Greg Turner picks Jeanette up from the mall, she confesses that the CD was Vincent’s. However, they agree to keep the situation between them and not tell Cindy Turner or Vince’s grandparents.

‘Cruel Summer’ Episode 6 Recap: 1994

In 1994, while Cindy Turner is home by herself, she answers the phone while eating snacks from a gift basket that Angela Prescott (Brooklyn Sudano) sent to Greg Turner for helping her find the “perfect home.” Viewers can tell that Cindy isn’t fond of the note from Angela — who becomes Greg’s girlfriend in 1995.

“Is Jeanette there?” the caller asks. When Cindy responds that she’s not home, the caller continues. “Dang, I was hoping for some kidnapping tips.”

After the prank call, Cindy searches Jeanette’s room and finds the key to Martin Harris’ house. When she asks Jeanette if she’s ever been in the assistant principal’s house, the teenager skirts around the question. When Cindy shows the key to Greg, he insists that Jeanette is telling the truth and not involved in Kate’s disappearance.

In 1994, Tanya claimed that Martin Harris was “so forceful” and “aggressive” in an interview. Mrs. Peterson also claimed that she was almost a victim of the assistant principal.

In the video store, Vince and Ben almost kiss as Jeanette walks in and interrupts them. Jeanette tells Vince she’s happy for him and won’t tell anyone his secret.

In 1994, Jeanette set the table while asking her brother if he had to go back to college already. He insists he can’t miss preseason and that Joy Wallis’ (Andrea Anders) “smear case” is not Jeanette’s fault.

‘Cruel Summer’ Episode 6 Recap: 1995

In 1995, Jeanette’s lawyer, Denise (Nicole Bilderback), makes another house visit because she is nervous about a new development in the case. Kate’s lawyers depose Tennille Peterson’s mother, Tanya, because she claims to have “damning information.”

Vince visits Jeanette and helps her sneak out of the house without the reporters seeing her. She says there’s something she needs to do. Jeanette confronts Tanya about the deposition. She reminds Mrs. Peterson that she has “provable facts” about Tennile’s father. When Tanya meets with Kate’s lawyers, she suddenly has nothing to say.

Later, her dad and Vince cheer her up with one of her favorite card games.
