Ridley shared the details behind the story during a recent interview with BBC. She called the experience “amazing,” frequently stressing that she couldn’t believe the experience happened.

“Well, basically, J.J. [Abrams], who wrote and directed [Star Wars] episodes seven and nine, he had said, ‘Oh, I’m friends with Barbra,’” Ridley said. “You know, in L.A. everyone is friends with everyone. … And he said, ‘Oh, she wants to meet you.’ I was like, ‘This is never going to happen, what’s going on?’”

Ridley couldn’t believe she was getting the opportunity to meet Streisand in person. However, she ended up at Streisand’s house and nearly damaged some of her prized furniture. Regardless, Streisand wanted to include Ridley on some new music..

“Anyway, I don’t know how it happened, but I’m in her house, and the worst thing was she had this honey thing … and it almost came out on her 18th-century French rug,” Ridley said. “And she said, ‘Ah, do you want to be on my album?’ This whole time I was thinking, ‘This isn’t real.’”

Anne Hathaway was there too

After their initial meeting, Ridley still had doubts that she’d actually get a chance to be on the album. Yet, when she returned to L.A. for the Oscars, she got to record a song wih Streisand and Anne Hathaway.

“So anyway, I left, thinking ‘Sure.’ Went back to L.A. for the Oscars, and I recorded a song with her. With Anne Hathaway,” Ridley said.

Even though she enjoyed the experience, Ridley doesn’t think too highly of her performance on the record.

“I was definitely the weak link on the song … I’m not missing the chance to sing with Barbra Streisand,’ Ridley said.

She didn’t get to see the shopping mall in Barbra Streisand’s house

Outside of her music, Streisand is also famous for having a shopping mall underneath her home. Unfortunately, Ridley wasn’t able to see it when she visited Streisand’s home.

“I didn’t go to the shopping mall, but she had sort of shown me around but I had to catch a flight,” Ridley said. “And I was so sad because I’d heard about the shopping mall, I wanted to see it.”

To make the experience even better, Ridley got to go see Streisand perform live afterward.

“And then I got this email saying, ‘Do you want to come to Barbra Streisand at Hyde Park?’” Ridley recalled. “F*ck yeah, I want to go to Barbra Streisand at Hyde Park.”
