It seems that there’s a great divide within the former cast of Dance Moms, but this time it’s got nothing to do with pyramids, dancing, or Abby Lee Miller. Just a few weeks after Dance Moms alum, Kendall Vertes, received backlash for throwing her support behind Donald Trump, Kalani Hilliker also sparked outrage on Twitter and Instagram. But this time, Dance Moms fans weren’t the only ones to express their disappointment in Hilliker’s opinions.

While Vertes is only 17 years old and wasn’t eligible to vote in the 2020 election, Hilliker, who recently turned 20, is more than old enough to cast a ballot. Fans of Dance Moms have suspected that Hilliker was a Trump supporter, and she confirmed suspicion with a tweet on November 3, 2020.

“No matter who you’re voting for use your voice and vote!!!” Hilliker penned on Election Day, encouraging her followers to vote. “It’s your right!!! #Trump202020.” Hilliker continued on to share that no matter what the outcome of the election, Americans needed to come together as a nation. “Yes at the end of the day we all need to come together as Americans no matter who wins.” Finally, the Dance Moms alum shared her thoughts about America as a nation.

“America is the greatest country because everyone has the freedom to express their own opinions,” Hilliker shared to both her Twitter and Instagram pages. “So no matter what happens this week we need to all come together as Americans and respect one another.” Naturally, fans of Dance Moms were split about Hilliker’s statements. Some agreed with her while others expressed disappointment and chose to call her out. But Hilliker’s followers weren’t the only ones to challenge her thinking. Hilliker’s former castmate, Nia Sioux also took the time to weigh in on her former teammate’s endorsement.

Taking to her own Instagram, Sioux, who like her Dance Moms bestie, Maddie Ziegler, has endorsed Joe Biden for President, reposted Hilliker’s comments in her story with a response of her own. “America hasn’t been great and it’s not going to be great until we have people in office that care about people other themselves,” Sioux declared, directly disagreeing with Hilliker’s statements.

Sioux continued on to share that it was extremely difficult for her to respect Trump. “I definitely think everyone needs to respect each other but it’s so hard to respect a president who doesn’t respect me, or women, or minorities, or the LGBTQ community,” the Dance Moms alum shared.”I’m all for respecting people but at a certain point when someone can’t even denounce white supremacy how can you have respect for that person?”

Will political differences end friendships between the ‘Dance Moms’ cast?

Sioux later went on to share a comic that was seemingly aimed at Hilliker and potentially Vertes as well. In the comic, a White woman declares “We can disagree and still be friends,” while a Black woman responds “Yes b*tch about pizza toppings, not racism.” Clearly, this election has caused a bit of division within the former Dance Moms cast. Only time will tell if those friendships have been damaged beyond repair.
