‘Dancing with the Stars’ Season 30 is one Cheryl Burke will ‘never forget’

Rigsby and Burke performed two dances during the Nov. 15 semi-finals. Burke says she was in shock after learning they were safe from elimination without being in the bottom two.

“This is a season that I’ll never forget,” she told Us Weekly after the episode. “It’s been a long time and I’ve done 24 seasons. So it was a great reminder actually [of] how grateful I should be to be here tonight.”

Season 30 of Dancing with the Stars has been shocking each week, and the semi-finals were no different. Like many fans, Burke was surprised to see Melora Hardin and Artem Chigvintsev get eliminated. Suni Lee and Sasha Farber were also sent home in the semi-finals episode.

Cheryl Burke is planning a freestyle that’s ‘never been done’ before for the ‘Dancing with the Stars’ finale

During the “Dancing In The Finals!!!” episode of the Pretty Messed Up podcast, Burke talks about making it to the Dancing with the Stars finale with Rigsby. On Nov. 22, the duo will perform a fusion, dancing the cha-cha and paso doble to the same song, plus a freestyle.

Burke is excited about the freestyle dance, which is meant to showcase Rigsby’s personality. But there have been some hurdles.

“The challenge is COVID at the moment,” Burke explains. “We can’t have extra dancers close to us. At the end of the day, I need to figure out — and I think I have — a way to create a freestyle that has never been done in 30 seasons.”

Burke is excited for Rigsby to “just be Cody Rigsby.” During their finale freestyle, the duo will perform to three songs, which Burke claims everyone will know. “I would love to … see Cody just do his thing and not have any technique or rules behind it all,” she concludes.

“I still definitely feel more of the after-effects, as does Cody as far as fatigue goes,” she continued. “But we are definitely better than we were a few weeks ago. Our bodies need to rest, but that’s not happening at the moment … because we made it this far. We might as well just try and go all the way.”

Now, Burke and Rigsby have almost made it to the end. Watch them perform in the Dancing with the Stars Season 30 finale on Monday, Nov. 22 at 8 PM ET on ABC to find out if they take home the Mirrorball Trophy.
