Dancing with the Stars pro Emma Slater says she’s got “baby fever!” The professional ballroom dancer, who is dancing with Jimmie Allen in DWTS Season 30, goes back and forth about when she and her husband Sasha Farber want to have kids. Here’s what Slater had to say about her “baby fever” and the one fear she has of becoming a mom.

Emma Slater is married to ‘Dancing with the Stars’ pro Sasha Farber

Farber proposed to Emma in 2016 during season 23 of Dancing with the Stars. The emotional moment happened live for the judges, cast, crew, and fans to see.

The couple officially tied the knot on Mar. 26, 2018. “We had the best day,” Slater told The Knot at the time. “Everybody says that, but nobody can prepare you for the experience of getting married.” Many Dancing with the Stars pros and celebrity alum attended Farber and Slater’s nuptials, including Alfonso Ribeiro, Joey Fatone, and Robert and Kym Herjavec, another married couple that resulted from dancing in the ballroom.

‘DWTS’ pro Emma Slater wants kids, but doesn’t know what kind of mom she’ll be

Slater joined her Dancing with the Stars colleague Cheryl Burke on the Pretty Messed Up podcast. Her husband was also a guest in the “Dancing and Hitched” episode, where the trio discussed their relationship and the possibility of having kids.

“I do get baby fever very much so,” Slater admits to Burke. “I go through phases. Do I want kids? Yeah. I do know deep down.”

While Slater wants to have kids, she’s also unsure of the kind of mother she will be. “Sasha tells me, ‘I don’t know what kind of mom you’ll be’ because I can be quite selfish,” Slater explains.

“I can be too,” Burke, who has also been contemplating the idea of having kids, adds. She and her husband Matthew Lawrence want to have children, but Burke isn’t sure if this is the right time in her career to do so.

“[It] comes with the business, [but I experienced body dysmorphia] even before I moved here to Los Angeles,” Burke said on The Tamron Hall Show on Sept. 13, 2021. “So there’s all that that I have to deal with. Then I have to think about — okay it’s not just me now it’s, me and my husband, and what do we want for our future?”

Burke has danced as a pro on 24 seasons of Dancing with the Stars. But now, Burke is considering retiring from the ballroom.

“[It’s] a huge accomplishment and I am grateful for that experience, but I’m not like these other girls who just had babies and can just bounce back,” she explains to Hall of having babies at her age. “I know my body, but I also, more importantly, know my own mental health and if I have this body image issue that I’m dealing with, again, if this [points to her head] is not OK I can’t perform.”

Emma Slater’s plan for when to have kids with Sasha Farber

Like Burke, Slater is waiting for the right moment to have kids. “I’m waiting for a switch,” Slater says, adding:

“I’m waiting for a change. I know I’m not going to be a dancer forever. I’m waiting for that moment where I’m moving into that next phase [and] I feel comfortable. Maybe it’s selfish to think like that — people always ask us about kids. It comes and goes.”
