Jimmie Allen and Emma Slater are out of the running for the Mirrorball Trophy on Dancing with the Stars. In the weeks before the judges sent the country star home, he opened up about the competition in season 30. During an interview with Audacy’s Rob + Holly, the “Best Shot” singer revealed what he considered the “worst part” of competing on Dancing with the Stars.

Jimmie Allen and Emma Slater leave ‘DWTS’ on Janet Jackson Night

During the Nov. 8 episode of Dancing with the Stars, the eight remaining couples performed various ballroom styles to Janet Jackson’s music. With the season 30 semi-finals right around the corner, two couples were eliminated that night.

Olivia Jade and Val Chmerkovskiy were the first to be sent home. Then, Allen and The Office actor Melora Hardin were in the bottom two. Leaving it up to the judges, Bruno Tonioli, Derek Hough, and a tearful Carrie Ann Inaba chose to save Hardin and her partner Artem Chigvintsev.

Jimmie Allen says the ‘worst part’ of ‘DWTS’ is ‘waiting for your name to be called’ during eliminations

Before getting eliminated on Janet Jackson Night, Allen spoke with Audacy’s Rob + Holly about his experience in the competition. “We got two 10s last night,” Allen said, speaking of his first 10s of the season, which he received for his Horror Night performance. “I didn’t think I was going to get a ten this whole season, honestly. It felt great.”

Allen also mentioned one of the “worst” parts of the Dancing with the Stars competition. “Just sitting there, just waiting for your name to be called, and trying to read Tyra [Banks’] lips,” he said of the elimination process.

In no particular order, Banks calls out the couples’ names who are safe from elimination each week. And each week leading up to his elimination, Allen would wonder: “Is she saying Jimmie? Is she saying Jimmie?”

‘Dancing with the Stars’ Season 30 finale details

Since Allen and Jade’s elimination, the following six couples will dance in the Dancing with the Stars semi-finals:

  • Cody Rigsby and Cheryl Burke
  • Suni Lee and Sasha Farber
  • JoJo Siwa and Jenna Johnson
  • Amanda Kloots and Alan Bersten
  • Iman Shumpert and Daniella Karagach
  • Hardin and Chigvintsev

As for who will take home the Mirrorball Trophy this season, Allen has no good guesses. “I actually don’t have any idea kinda how it could turn out,” he told Rob + Holly. “People are getting better week by week and also the voting — you never know how that’s going to go.”

Pro dancer Britt Stewart agrees with Allen in that this year, it’s hard to tell who will come out on top. “I feel like every week it changes for me because every week, there’s someone new [who stands out],” Stewart told Showbiz Cheat Sheet exclusively in October 2021. “Melora [Hardin] completely shocked us all.”

Ultimately, one couple stands out in Stewart’s mind as the potential DWTS Season 30 winner. “I think JoJo and Jenna have great potential to be Mirrorball Champions this year,” she admitted. “If anything, I definitely think that they will get into the finale.”

The Dancing with the Stars Season 30 finale will air Monday, Nov. 22, 2021. Tune in at 8 PM EST to find out who wins.
