This week’s Days of Our Lives comings and goings puts the spotlight on a soap opera veteran. Suzanne Rogers has been a part of the Days family since 1973, playing the role of Maggie Horton for more than 900 episodes. What will her character bring to the small-screen this time around?

Suzanne Rogers returns to ‘Days of Our Lives’

According to SoapHub, Suzanne Rogers will return to Days of Our Lives on the Oct. 6 episode of the show. Rogers was last seen on the show in February. At that time, Rogers’ character was said to be “visiting her daughter,” Summer (who is played by Marie Wilson).

In her first scene back on the canvas, Maggie will be playing opposite Brady and Chloe. We can almost be certain that she’ll be filling the pair in on what’s been going on since she’s been away. Brady and Chloe will most likely be asking questions about Summer, and Maggie will be eager to fill them in.

And then, it’s time to get down to business.

Rogers is one of the few ‘Days’ veterans left on the show

One of the few veterans of Days of Our Lives that are still left on the show is, of course, Suzanne Rogers. Originally introduced to the show as a guest character in August 1973, Rogers quickly moved into the role of series regular. At the time, she was named one of the “most energetic gals on daytime television” (it was the 1970s, after all). And in 1979, she won a Daytime Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in the role.

But in the 1980s, things began to change for her. In an interview with We Love Soaps, Rogers explained that she developed myasthenia gravis, and had to cut down on her time on the show.

“Al Rabin called me and asked me to come back to the show. I said, “You need to see me.” Because I did not look like I did when I left the show,” she said. “You must remember that when I left the show I was running 10Ks and I was thin. I was at about 115 lbs.”

What will happen next with Maggie Horton?

Now that Rogers is back on the Days of Our Lives canvas, she’s far from going to be spending her days reminiscing about the good old days. Rather, according to a different report for SoapHub, she’ll be diving head-first into the drama.

Julie, of course, is beside herself over Doug’s mysterious illness, and it seems like Maggie will be the one to offer support. And then there’s the issue of Xander, who’s still reeling after “Sarah” (Kristen DiMera) dumped him at the altar. (To be fair, Xander was back on his bad-boy nonsense, so we’d probably dump him too.) Certainly, he’ll be on the lookout for a comforting shoulder in Maggie.

In short, the return of Suzanne Rogers to Days of Our Lives will feature Maggie doing what she does best: being one of the few truly “good guys” in Salem.
