If you’re a Days of Our Lives fan, you’re aware that there are times that the soap will periodically get pre-empted. This week, unfortunately, may be one of those times. The end of the year is a special time of year for everyone — and that includes the networks. As such, Days of Our Lives may be one of the shows that are pre-empted this week.

‘Days of Our Lives’ was pre-empted for the Olympics

On Friday, July 23, NBC aired the Olympic games. As a result, Days of Our Lives was pre-empted from July 23 until August 6.

Soap Opera Network reported that the soap and all other non-sports shows were pre-empted. So, it’s not just Days fans that didn’t get a chance to watch their favorite show.

The 2020 Olympics were originally postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And, as more athletes test positive for the coronavirus and concerns increase about the virus’s variants, controversy about the Olympics continues to rage on.

It was not pre-empted on Christmas Eve

On Christmas Eve — which was Friday, December 24 — the show aired an all-new episode on NBC. And, if you happened to miss the first airing of the show, you can also watch it on Peacock. Speaking of Christmas, the first-ever Days Christmas movie, A Very Salem Christmas, is also still airing on Peacock.

In the December 24 episode of Days of Our Lives, several of Salem’s heroes teamed up to keep Ciara safe from the Mar-Devil. Previously, it was revealed that Mar-Devil overplayed her hand when it came to Ben and Ciara. This led the pregnant newlywed to catch on to the Devil’s scheming ways. Now, it’s time for her to keep her, her baby, and her bull-headed husband Ben safe!

Meanwhile, Steve and Allie teamed up to search for Tripp when he goes missing, and Jan’s plan continued to unravel. This meant Shawn and Bell will be left “positively gobsmacked,” so you know things are going to be bad. And finally, Jack returned from Boston with a surprise in tow for Chad and Abigail. It’s been a minute since “Chabby” was on the canvas, so it was good to see them again.

And there’s more good news up ahead for Days of Our Lives fans!

The show will not be pre-empted on New Year’s Eve, either

Fans of Days of Our Lives will be pleased to know that a new episode will air on New Year’s Eve. At that time, according to Soaps.com, Marlena will be discharged from the hospital “demon-free,” so it looks like the exorcism worked. Meanwhile, Sami makes an important decision regarding her love life.
