‘Days of Our Lives’ Speculation: Marlena Rescues Johnny From The Devil — But It’s Too Late For Him and Chanel
Days of Our Lives has put in the twist to end all twists with the possession storyline. Now, Marlena isn’t possessed anymore — but her grandson is. Being that Marlena knows a thing or two about possession, the latest speculation suggests that she tries to help her grandson. But, there’s a chance that it’s done too much damage to his nascent marriage to Chanel. Is that marriage over before it’s even gotten started?

On ‘Days of Our Lives,’ Johnny and Chanel have already had their first falling-out
Fans of Days of Our Lives already know that Chanel and Johnny had their first falling out on the Jan. 10 episode of the show. At the DiMera mansion, Johnny — actually, “JoDevil,” for lack of a better word — laced into Chanel and told her he didn’t want to be married to her anymore. You could actually see the look of horror on Chanel’s face as Johnny told her he wanted her gone.
Paulina, like a good mom, laced into Johnny before comforting her own daughter. EJ, being who he is, said his son is a grown man who makes his own decisions. (And besides, it didn’t seem like he liked Chanel much anyway.)
In the middle of all this is Marlena, who knows the Devil when she sees him. And there’s a good chance she saw the Devil in her grandson.
Marlena tries to step in
According to Soaps.com, upcoming episodes of Days of Our Lives will feature Johnny with a lot more self-realization than his grandmother ever had, and it won’t be long before he figures out he’s possessed. He’s already gotten the hint from Susan, but it looks like Marlena will be stepping in, too. That, however, doesn’t change very much about things.
“What if Satan awakens something in Johnny’s blood that he’d been keeping at bay all these years? Allie already warned Chanel that her brother was evil, then backed off and decided she was wrong. But could that really be true?” speculates the outlet.
Besides, as Days of Our Lives fans already know, Chanel has moved on…sort of.
But there’s the issue of Chanel’s ‘forbidden night’ with Allie
Fans of Days of Our Lives know that the Jan. 11 episode of the show featured Chanel and Allie consummating their relationship. Now, those two have always had a love-hate (and sometimes, a hate-hate) relationship, so to see them consummate this relationship was a bit shocking. Still, it happened, and good for them.
Now, Paulina — like any mother — hates Johnny for breaking her daughter’s heart. So when she finds out about Chanel and Allie’s night, she has every motivation in the world to let Johnny know. And to Paulina, it won’t matter in the least if Johnny gets the Devil out of him — to her, her daughter and her happiness is more important, and she’s not going to let anyone, least of all a DiMera, stomp all over him. Does this mean the end of Johnny and Chanel for good?
Of course, this is all just speculation. We’ll just have to tune in to upcoming episodes of Days of Our Lives to find out for sure.
