Demi Lovato’s Ex Max Ehrich Is ‘Not Dating’ — Source Claims His Rumored Relationship Is ‘Phony’
Following his split from Demi Lovato, Max Ehrich made it seem like he had moved on with someone new after being spotted with American Idol alum Sonika Vaid.
While he kept fans buzzing by posting photos of himself and the singer on his Instagram — implying that he was already rebounding — it turns out that Ehrich and Vaid aren’t romantically involved after all and that their supposed relationship was “all phony.”
Max Ehrich and Sonika Vaid first sparked dating rumors early this month
Rumors that Ehrich and Vaid were dating first surfaced on Oct. 13 when the actor shared a photo of them enjoying a night out on the town.
In the snapshot posted to his Instagram, The Young and The Restless star was all smiles as he had his arm wrapped around the singer, who finished in fifth place on season 15 of American Idol, while she cozied up next to him.
The pair’s outing came a few weeks after news surfaced that Ehrich’s former fiancée, Demi Lovato, had called off their engagement after just two months.
From what fans could tell, it appeared that Ehrich had a new woman in his life and was seemingly moving on from Lovato, who he spent weeks pining over on social media.
However, Vaid later set the record straight regarding her relationship with Ehrich, telling E! News that things between them were purely platonic.
“I met Max recently at dinner with mutual friends. It was a fun night and we all got to hang out and head to the studio together,” she told the outlet. “We’ve just been hanging out since and having fun.”

Though Vaid claimed that she and Ehrich were just friends, the actor continued to keep the dating rumor mill spinning.
On Oct. 17, the American Princess star posted another photo of himself and the singer, but this time, it was a screenshot of the duo having a FaceTime call.
Though he didn’t caption the post, Demi Lovato fans quickly called out Ehrich for flaunting his new relationship and moving on so soon from his former engagement.
Though fans weren’t too thrilled about his rumored new romance, it seemed to others that Ehrich had finally gotten over Lovato for good and was happily involved with the American Idol alum.
However, a new report claims that that isn’t true and that Ehrich and Vaid’s alleged relationship was all for show.
Ehrich just wanted to get back at Lovato
According to Page Six, there is nothing romantic going between Ehrich and Vaid.
A source tells the outlet that the duo is not dating, noting that Vaid is actually in a relationship with a real estate agent who works for Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Mauricio Umansky’s firm.
“[Ehrich] wants to make it look like he’s moving on with another woman, but they’re not dating,” the insider shares. “She’s in a full relationship and lives with her boyfriend.”
While it did seem like Ehrich and Vaid were moving into romantic territory, the source adds that the actor just wanted to get a rise out of Lovato by hanging out with another woman.
“He’s trying to get back at Demi and make her jealous,” the source said. “It’s all phony.”
But, it looks like Ehrich’s attempts at getting Lovato’s attention didn’t work because she’s been spending these last few weeks hanging out with friends — and making contact with aliens.
Clearly, Lovato is using this time to focus on herself and move on from the drama she experienced with Ehrich. Maybe it’s time he does the same.
