Demon Slayer has finally returned for its second season, and the new episodes promise to ramp up the action and suspense of the anime’s first outing. This chapter will focus heavily on Tanjiro and his friends learning from the legendary Hashira. However, it’s unclear if any other Demon Slayer characters will pop up during season 2.

Demon Slayer: Mugen Train and the trailer for the Entertainment District Arc gave fans some idea of who to expect in the coming installments. However, should the anime venture beyond those arcs, here’s who we’d like to see more of in Demon Slayer Season 2.

[Spoiler warning: This article contains spoilers for Demon Slayer Season 1.]

‘Demon Slayer’ Season 2 will feature more Hashira — but what about Giyu?

Demon Slayer Season 2 will dig into the Flame and Sound Hashira in more depth, with each of them overseeing Tanjiro and his friends during separate parts of the season. It’ll be interesting to learn more about these characters, especially given how powerful they are. However, there’s another Hashira we’d like to make a comeback sometime soon.

Although it’s not likely to happen with the emphasis currently on the others, Demon Slayer needs to give Giyu more screen time. The first member of the Demon Slayer Corps that Tanjiro meets, Giyu is a powerful fighter who clearly has more empathy for those turned into demons than his brethren. Getting more background on his character would explain his actions during the first season and prove a satisfying way to tie events together for the Demon Slayer fandom.

Tanjiro should cross paths with Kanao again

The anime Demon Slayer is far from romantic, but that doesn’t mean the characters can’t have any relationships over the course of its run. Season 1 hinted at that possibility between Tanjiro and Kanao, and we’re already hoping to see the two of them together again.

The end of Demon Slayer Season 1 showed how much these two can benefit from each other’s perspective. It’d be nice to see Demon Slayer Season 2 explore that in further depth.

Kanao is also a fascinating character in her own right, and manga readers know she can hold her own in a fight. It’s unclear if she’ll actually show up at any point during season 2. However, we’re crossing our fingers for a return sooner rather than later.

Genya remains a mystery in the ‘Demon Slayer’ anime

Not many people who try out for the Demon Slayer Corps survive the attempt. Tanjiro realizes this when the majority of the people in his cohort perish during the test. He’s already bonded with two of the survivors from his class, forming friendships with Inosuke and Zenitsu. However, one of them remains a mystery in the anime: Genya.

Demon Slayer Season 1 gave viewers brief glimpses of Genya, but it hasn’t offered fans many opportunities to get to know him. Everything we’ve seen so far suggests he’s an angry individual. Could Demon Slayer Season 2 give us insight into why?

If the anime went out of its way to show Genya survived alongside Tanjiro and his friends, there’s likely to be a reason. Future episodes will need to elaborate on his role in Tanjiro’s story.

Kagaya Ubuyashiki is a fascinating character

Tanjiro and Nezuko meet Kagaya Ubuyashiki at the end of Demon Slayer Season 1. The leader of the Demon Slayer Corps shows more empathy for the duo than many of the Hashira who follow him. It’d be interesting to see how he came to hold such a critical role in the group — and to see him impart more of his wisdom on the main characters.

If Demon Slayer Season 2 continues taking deep dives into Tanjiro’s peers, it stands to reason fans might see their leader again. Fingers crossed he makes another appearance.

‘Demon Slayer’ Season 2 needs to dig deeper into the anime’s Big Bad

The coming Demon Slayer arcs will see Tanjiro and his friends going up against powerful demons — but probably not the anime’s Big Bad. Muzan Kibutsuji continues to pull strings from the shadows, using his more powerful followers to enact his will. However, he remains a looming presence in Tanjiro’s story. The two will likely have a final showdown before the anime is through.

That moment probably won’t happen in season 2. However, that doesn’t mean the anime can’t show us more of the character beforehand. In fact, doing so would help the series build to its final confrontation.

Of course, there’s plenty to cover before fans reach that final stop. Catch new episodes of Demon Slayer Season 2 on Crunchyroll, Funimation, and Hulu.
