Demon Slayer Season 2 concluded with one of the anime’s most impressive fight sequences to date, and viewers are eager to see what happens to Tanjiro (Natsuki Hanae/Zach Aguilar) and his friends next. Unfortunately, it could be a while before season 3 arrives. In the meantime, fans may want to pick up the Demon Slayer manga. But what chapter should they start on once they’ve finished the Entertainment District Arc?

‘Demon Slayer’ Season 2 teases big developments in its finale

Demon Slayer Season 2 doesn’t end on a cliffhanger, but it teases some major developments before coming to a close. For one, it introduces potential new villains, starting with former Upper Rank 6 demon Doma (Mamoru Miyano).

Although we only see Doma during a flashback, there’s a good chance he moved up when Gyutaro (Ryota Osaka) and Daki (Miyuki Sawashiro/Erica Lindbeck) took on the role. The anime has to have some reason for introducing him. We may find out what it is in season 3.

Akaza (Akira Ishida/Lucien Dodge) also finds himself summoned by a superior in the finale. That could lead to another villain introduction — or expand on Akaza’s promise to seek vengeance against Tanjiro.

In addition to teasing new evils, Demon Slayer suggests that the Hashira need to do some recruiting in season 3. With Kyojuro Rengoku (Satoshi Hino/Mark Whitten) gone and Tengen Uzui (Katsuyuki Konishi/Ray Chase) retiring, their numbers are decreasing. Tengen suggests Tanjiro could become one of the elite Demon Slayers. However, he has work to do before reaching that level.

With all of that established at the end of the Entertainment District Arc, there are plenty of questions to answer in season 3. Fans who are feeling impatient can seek them in the Demon Slayer manga. Where should they start reading?

What chapter of the ‘Demon Slayer’ manga does season 2 leave off on?

The events of the Demon Slayer Season 2 finale coincide with what happens in chapter 97 of the Demon Slayer manga. Dubbed “No Matter How Many Lives, Part 2,” this chapter delves into Gyutaro and Daki’s tragic history. It also rounds out the Entertainment District Arc, concluding with Akaza being summoned.

Chapter 98 of Demon Slayer delves into all-new territory, so that’s where fans will want to dive in. For those reading physical copies of the series, Vol. 12 contains chapters 98-102. Chapter 98 is titled “The Upper Ranks Gather,” so it delivers on the promise of more villains. Talk about a suspenseful place to pick things up again.

Of course, with the wait between seasons 2 and 3, anime-only fans can also start the Demon Slayer manga from the beginning. They may catch new details in doing so.

Wherever they choose to start, the source material is well worth the commitment. Where can they find it?
