Demon Slayer‘s Entertainment District Arc has been building to a confrontation between Tanjiro and Daki, but the anime’s lead wore himself out fighting the demon. Things looked dire for a moment, but Nezuko managed to save the day — and Demon Slayer fans can’t stop talking about it.

This isn’t the first time Nezuko stepped in to help Tanjiro during a fight. However, she goes through a major transformation in Entertainment District Arc Episode 6. Fans of Koyoharu Gotouge’s manga saw it coming. But those who haven’t read the source material may be wondering what Nezuko’s change in appearance means.

What does Nezuko’s transformation mean for the character?

After saving Tanjiro from Daki, Nezuko undergoes a physical transformation that may leave viewers scratching their heads. Although Tanjiro’s sister has always been a demon, fans have never seen her like this.

Not only does Nezuko begin regenerating nearly as quickly as Daki — an Upper Rank demon — but her body starts to change as she gains strength. The most notable differences are a horn growing out of her forehead and markings covering her skin.

Nezuko’s shift happens in the same way it does in the Demon Slayer manga, and readers call this version of the character her “Awakened Form.” Basically, Nezuko’s powers are amplified in this state. Unfortunately, as Fandom.com points out, she also has less control over her own body.

That could prove a problem for Tanjiro and Nezuko, as the two have kept her alive by preventing her from eating humans. Hopefully, she won’t go off the rails in her new form. But will she manage to defeat Daki?

With Nezuko in her Awakened Form, does she stand a chance of defeating Daki? The two are poised to have a blowout before the season is through. However, Tengen, Inosuke, and Zenitsu are also on their way toward them.

Depending on how out of control Nezuko is, that could prove a worrisome reunion for the Demon Slayers. Will they need to fight both women when they arrive on the scene? Or will Nezuko and Tanjiro find a way to get her back to her usual form? Manga readers know the answer, but newcomers will need to tune in to find out.
