Derek Hough has won 6 mirrorball trophies

Hough joined Dancing With the Stars in season 5 as a guest choreographer to assist his sister, Julianne Hough, in her routine with celeb competitor Apolo Anton Ohno. The following season, he was brought on as a full-time pro and was partnered with former Beverly Hills 90210 star Jennie Garth.

Since that first season, Hough has become one of the best known and most decorated of the Dancing With the Stars pros. He led the following celebrities to mirrorball glory: Brooke Burke, Nicole Scherzinger, Jennifer Grey, Kellie Pickler, Amber Riley, and Bindi Irwin.

Which major celeb does Derek Hough want to see at the judge’s table?

In an interview with Good Morning America, Hough admitted to seeing one celebrity seated alongside him at the judge’s table.

“I might call my friend Jennifer, J.Lo,” he name-dropped. We’ve judged each other before. We’ve worked with each other. Get her out there! I think she’d be fantastic.”

“We know she loves to dance. She’d be amazing,” he added.

Along with “DWTS” Derek Hough will helm his own Las Vegas residency

Hough will wear two distinctly different hats over the next two months. He will travel back and forth from LA, where DWTS is taped, to Nevada, where he will helm a residency at The Venetian: Las Vegas.

When asked about the challenges he faces as these two projects run simultaneously, Hough seemed unfazed.

“It’s an absolute dream come true,” he said to Good Morning America. My mom lived in Las Vegas for 20 years. I used to go down the strip and look at the signs, dreaming I would have my own show there one day. Here we are!”

“I am so excited,” he continued. “I have a live band, the most incredible dancers, just an all-star cast. Mowtown music, rock and roll, Latin, ballroom, contemporary, tap — it truly is a show for everybody.”
