No mom wants to bury her son. But unfortunately for Angelique Smith, the mother of famed rapper Nipsey Hussle, that’s just what she had to do.

Yesterday, Smith spoke at the memorial for her son and moved everyone with her emotional words.

What did Smith have to say to fans?

People have been mourning the death of the rapper and philanthropist since his Mar. 31 shooting. Fans have brought candles and flowers to the rapper’s store The Marathon Clothing to show their condolences. Social media has been full of grieving fans posting tributes to Nipsey. But in the midst of all of this, Smith has been able to find peace and she wants all of her son’s supporters to find it as well.

“I have perfect peace,” she said as she spoke at the public memorial. “I am happy. I am complete. I am strong. And if I can feel this way, you can, too.”

She called Nipsey’s father, Dawit Asghedom, to come stand with her on stage and continued.

“We call on the energies who guide and protect us as we make our way in life,” she said. “We call on our ancestors to join us at this service. I would ask that all of our ancestors guide and protect us.”

She also encouraged the audience to try and clean up their own lives.

“I want to encourage you to choose a vegan lifestyle,” she said. “I want to encourage you to let [go of] your use of alcoholic beverages and narcotic substances. I want to tell you that we come from royalty and regality. I want to tell you that we are very loving and kind and a spiritual race of people. I want to tell you that we are very traumatized and pressurized people.”

Did Smith predict Nipsey’s death?

If women’s intuition is real, then a mother’s intuition may be even stronger. As Smith spoke, she revealed that she had a nagging feeling that something bad was going to happen weeks before her son was ever killed.

“I had not slept for two weeks leading up to this event on Sunday,” she said speaking of the day Nipsey was shot. “When I went there I was not at perfect peace.”

When she got to the store, she knew that this was what she had been feeling.

“My spirit said ‘Oh, that’s it.'”

What happened to Nipsey?

On Mar. 31, Nipsey went to his clothing store to help a friend pick out some clothes. His friend had just been released from prison and the rapper wanted to make sure that he had something nice to wear when he finally reunited with his family.

Nipsey made the decision to go to the store so quickly that he did not inform his security team.

While outside his store, he was gunned down.

“Paramedics were called and [Hussle who was born Ermias Joseph Asghedom] was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m.,” a statement from the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner, obtained by People, stated.

Eric Holder has been charged with the murder of the rapper but he has pleaded not guilty.
