Camilla was threatened by Charles’ other mistress

When Princess Diana confronted Charles about having an extramarital affair with Camilla, he reportedly told Diana, “I refuse to be the only Prince of Wales who never had a mistress.” But some royal fans have wondered just how many mistresses Charles did have. Well, it’s been reported that his current wife was rivaled by another woman after they began seeing each other.

According to New Idea, the royal was involved with an Australian woman named Dale Elizabeth Harper at the same time he was with Camilla. Both of the women, who were then married to other men, were said to be competing for Charles’ affection.

Reports about the other lady in Charles’ life made headlines in the past, but the public still doesn’t know very much about her.

Harper became known as Kanga Tryon after she married Charles’ friend, Anthony Tryon, 3rd Baron Tryon in 1973. The prince is believed to have been smitten with Kanga and said that she was “the only woman who ever understood me.” Their affair marked the “first time Camilla had a serious rival.”

Some publications have noted that once Charles announced his engagement to Lady Diana Spencer in 1981, Kanga was not pleased and soon pushed out of his inner circle. However, they remained in contact and years later were even spotted at several events together. The press then labeled Kanga as “Charles’ friend.” And she, like Camilla, tapped Charles to be the godfather of her son. She even named one of her four children after the future king.

Kanga started her own clothing line and in 1985, Princess Diana agreed to wear some of her pieces. Her health though deteriorated and she was diagnosed with cancer. Although she beat the disease, she became addicted to painkillers and sought treatment at a rehabilitation facility.

In 1996, while at that facility, Kanga fell from a window and shattered her spine. She would never walk again and was confined to a wheelchair from that point on. There have been claims suggesting that she jumped but in the documentary High Society sources claimed that she was pushed.

In November 1997, just months after Princess Diana died following a fatal car crash, Harper passed away as well when she contracted septicemia.

On April 9, 2005, Prince Charles married Camilla Parker Bowles.
