What is Disney+ Day?

For those unfamiliar with Disney+ Day, the event launched on Nov. 12, 2021, as a celebration of the Disney-owned streaming platform’s second anniversary. Disney unveiled sneak peeks at several upcoming releases from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and more. For example, the Marvel presentation on Disney+ Day 2021 included projects like Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel. Some had release dates in 2022 and 2023, while others would receive dates later on.

In addition to announcements, a selection of shorts and films became available to stream on Disney+ that day, such as Jungle Cruise and Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings. IMAX-enhanced versions of select Marvel films also hit the streaming platform on Nov. 12. Finally, Disney offered sales, subscription deals, and special member perks, such as early access to Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort that day.

In a tweet on May 31, Disney+ told fans to “mark your calendars” for Disney+ Day 2022 — Sept. 8. The event serves as a lead-in to D23 Expo: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, which takes place at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. Disney+ didn’t share any other details about Disney+ Day 2022, so it’s unclear if presentations will be virtual-only or held in person. Disney fans should stay tuned for more information.

For now, it’s anyone’s guess which projects Disney+ will preview on the big day. Some people have speculated that a trailer for Hocus Pocus 2 could be in the works, or more details on The Mandalorian Season 3. It’s also possible that Disney will have trailers for some of the Marvel projects announced on Disney+ Day 2021.
