What is the mystery of ‘Doctor Who’: ‘Spyfall: Part Two’ and how does Gallifrey reappear?

The episode starts with the Doctor and her companions stuck in difficult, seemingly impossible situations. They all manage to get out, with some help, but the Doctor then has to run from the Master while her friends are running from Daniel Barton. Eventually, the Doctor figures out a plan with the help of some historical figures: Ada Lovelace and Noor Inayat Khan. She agrees to meet the Master and he asks her if she’s been home lately.

His words haunt her, and later on, she goes back to Gallifrey. When she gets there, she finds it burned and gets a message from the Master. He tells her that he burned Gallifrey because of a lie that the Time Lords told. A lie that changes “the whole existence of [the] species.”

This lie is about someone called the Timeless Child. This plot point is briefly mentioned in season 11 episode 2 of Doctor Who, “The Ghost Monument,” only to reappear in “Spyfall: Part Two.”

How do fans feel about the mention of the Timeless Child in ‘Doctor Who’: ‘Spyfall: Part Two’?

One fan on Twitter likes “the timeless child [arc] so far.” This fan likes “that it kind of gives the Master justification to act out instead of him just being bad cause he’s always been bad.” Another Twitter fan says that “the Doctor and the Master will team up in the finale.” This will be, according to this fan, to fight off either “A) The Timeless Child, B) The Time Lords, [or] C) Their Destiny.”

Another fan responds to the mention of the Timeless Child by saying that they are “obsessed and want to know everything!” This fan needs the “who, what, where, and why” of the storyline. A Twitter user adds that they enjoyed Doctor Who’s “Spyfall: Part Two” “just like the first part.” This viewer continues by saying that they “hope this [overarching] story of the ‘Timeless Child’ goes really awesome places.”

How did fans react to the reappearance of Gallifrey?

One fan on Twitter says “Bloody Gallifrey, again. Like Baby in Dirty Dancing, it’s really difficult to put in a time-locked, dimensionally-isolated corner.” Another fan wonders why the writers went the route they did. “Why destroy Gallifrey after teasing its return for 5 seasons?” the fan asks.

A Twitter user says “So the Master. Then Gallifrey. This season of Doctor Who has me on the edge of my seat already.” Another Twitter fan reacts to Gallifrey being seemingly destroyed by posting a gif saying “Oh frickity frack, not this again!”

Overall, fans seem to be somewhat excited for the Timeless Child story, wanting to unravel the mystery. Gallifrey’s part of the story, however, has mixed reactions from fans.
