Doja Cat says she had coronavirus

During the past few weeks, Doja Cat made a gradual return to social media following a few online controversies. Although she’s been a little bit active on Instagram and TikTok, behind the scenes, she fell ill.

She did an interview with the U.K.’s Capital Xtra and told hosts Yinka and Shayna Marie what she’s been up to for the past couple months.

“It’s been alright. I stay home. I got COVID. Honestly, I don’t know how this happens. I guess I ordered something off of Postmates and … I don’t know how I got it but I got it,” she said.

Doja assured everyone she’s okay now, but added “It was a four-day symptom freak-out.” Later in the interview, she joked about how she has a habit of ordering takeout all the time.

March marked the shift in how the pandemic affected everyone’s daily lives, and it’s when lockdowns were first implemented.

Many celebrities expressed their opinions about coronavirus, and at the time, Doja Cat made some facetious comments on Instagram Live about it. Someone shared a clip of it on YouTube.

“I’m not scared of the coronavirus or the motherf*****g beer version of that s**t. I’m gonna get corona and then I’m gonna get a Corona ‘cause I don’t give a f**k about corona, bit**. It’s a flu!”

She went on to say “I’m not scared,” and teased fans about being afraid, stating all you’d need to do is take some Mucinex, drink water, and get some sleep.

Doja Cat is still working during quarantine

Back in May, Doja Cat crushed the charts with the “Say So” remix featuring Nicki Minaj. The song’s been a hit for her since the top of the year, but she’s been eating up the scene doing her own features and dropping videos. That included a surprise guest spot on The Weeknd’s “In Your Eyes.”

Toward the end of May, Lil Wayne dropped “Shimmy” with verses from Doja Cat. In June, the rapper shared her video for “Like That,” a single from her Hot Pink Album.

She was also a featured artist on singer Anne-Marie’s “To Be Young,” and City Girls’ “P**** Talk.” Doja Cat appeared in videos for both songs in July. She’s been busy during quarantine.

What’s next for the singer/rapper? Doja Cat is up for the MTV PUSH Best New Artist. Fans can cast their votes for their favorite nominees up to 10 times a day.

The VMAs will broadcast live from various locations in New York on Aug. 30. Chances are Doja Cat fans will get to see her perform during the show.
