Dolly Parton and Miley Cyrus starred in 2 Superbowl commercials this year

Miley Cyrus and Dolly Parton have had a close relationship since Cyrus was born. In fact, Parton is Cyrus’ godmother!

Parton and Cyrus starred in two related 30-second Super Bowl commercials this year for T-Mobile. Miley Cyrus appeared in the last few seconds of Parton’s Super Bowl commercial, while Parton can be seen in the first seconds of Cyrus’ ad.

Parton had a previous Super Bowl ad in 2021 when she rewrote her famous song “9 to 5” for Squarespace, changing the lyrics to “5 to 9” to make the song about side gigs. Although her voice was heard singing, and she cheekily winked from the cover of a magazine, Parton did not appear in person in the ad.

But this year, Parton acted in a Super Bowl commercial for T-Mobile. “America’s got a serious problem, so I’m gonna get it off my chest,” Parton says in the ad before pulling a cell phone out of her top.

The country music icon told Variety that she loved the concept of the ad. “I always carry my phone in my bosom,” she said. “My boobs are ringing when the phone rings.”

Hannah Montana fans might already know about Parton’s habit of finding creative places to keep her phone.

Dolly Parton and Miley Cyrus’ Superbowl commercials reflected this ‘Hannah Montana’ scene

Long before their 2022 Super Bowl commercials, Dolly Parton and Miley Cyrus co-starred in a few episodes of Disney’s Hannah Montana. The country star played Cyrus’ character’s Aunt Dolly.

During one of Parton’s appearances on Hannah Montana, she pulled a move strikingly similar to her T-Mobile Super Bowl commercial.

In the scene, Cyrus and Parton sat together on a couch when a phone suddenly rang. “Uh, Aunt Dolly, I think your hair’s ringing,” Cyrus said.

Parton whipped a cell phone out of her signature blonde locks and replied, “Well honey, when your pants are as tight as mine, you gotta have somewhere to put your phone!”

The ‘Midnight Sky’ singer wished her godmother happy birthday with the same ‘Hannah Montana’ scene

Miley Cyrus recently shared the Hannah Montana phone scene with Dolly Parton on social media in honor of the country legend’s 76th birthday.

On Jan. 19, Cyrus posted the clip on Instagram and captioned it, “One of the many invaluable lessons learned from @dollyparton ❤️ Happy Birthday Aunt Dolly!”

Parton opened up to Vanity Fair about Cyrus’ role on the hit Disney show. “Well, when Hannah Montana came on the air and little Miley Cyrus, my little goddaughter, was the star of it, I was so proud of her,” she said. “I thought she was sensational. I thought what a great little comedian she is and what a great little actress and of course she’s a great singer. But she was so perfect in that spot.”

The “Jolene” singer also revealed that her goddaughter convinced Disney to give her a role on the popular children’s show. “And she told them that, you know, she said ‘I want my Aunt Dolly on here’ – she calls me Aunt Dolly – and so she said, ‘I want her on the show,’” Parton shared. “So they wrote me in the show and we just worked so great together. And I was on a few times.”
