During an interview with Lorianne Crook, Parton discusses her life and career. Crook says she has heard many times that everyone loves her. She wanted to know if there was ever a person that Parton just couldn’t win over.

“There are a lot of people that don’t like me,” says Parton. “I’ve seen several reviews, and every now and then you’ll just see somebody that’s out to get you. There’s just certain things about certain people that you don’t like. I have been very fortunate except for the tabloids, which that’s OK with me, too. I just kind of take some pride in that I’m the tabloid queen because I’ve always wanted to be a queen or a fairy princess at least,” jokes Parton.

“There are a lot of people that don’t like me; I even have relatives that don’t like me,” adds Parton. She adds that she does the best she can, and she realizes that not everyone is going to like her.

Dolly Parton says she tries to keep her private life private

Parton appeared on The Kelleigh Bannen Show for their International Women’s Day show on Apple Music Country. The country singer says she learned from her mother about how to keep certain parts of her life private.

“I learned early on,” says Parton (via Today). “And I think my mama told me when I was young, ‘Always keep something back for you. You can give what you’ve got to give, but don’t give it all away. Always keep something for you.’”

Parton says keeping certain parts of her personal life private helped her marriage to her husband, Carl Dean.  “I’ve known how to keep my husband private,” says Parton. “It’s just natural to me to protect the things and the people I love and to protect my own privacy,” she says.

Dolly Parton says she doesn’t regret not having children

During an interview with Andy Warhol and writer Maura Moynihan in Interview magazine, Parton revealed she was unable to give birth to children. She and her husband tried to start a family, but things didn’t work out the way they expected. “I couldn’t have children; I tried to for years,” Parton tells Interview magazine (via the book Dolly on Dolly). “I’ve never been pregnant in my life.”

Parton says she doesn’t mind not having children. She told the publication she didn’t feel like she missed out. “I don’t miss it,” she continues. “I did for a while, but I realized that I am everybody’s mother. I’ve raised five of my younger brothers and sisters and now their kids call me Aunt Grannie. I’m like the grandma and the aunt.”
