Actor Ryan Reynolds is known for many projects. But his appearance on Scrubs may not be the one that comes to most fans’ minds first. Regardless, Scrubs actor Donald Faison used an episode of his rewatch podcast with Zach Braff to apologize to Reynolds.

Scrubs aired for nine seasons, comprising most of the ’00s. Back in season 2, Reynolds guest-starred in an episode. At the time, he was best known for his breakout film role in National Lampoon’s Van Wilder and his leading role in the popular series Two Guys and a Girl.

In the episode, titled “My Dream Job,” Reynolds portrayed Spence, an old friend of Turk and J.D.’s from college. He comes to visit and encourages them to drink in order to take the edge off from their high-pressure jobs. However, this gets them in trouble one night when they’re on-call.

Zach Braff and Donald Faison host a rewatch podcast

A decade after the series went off the air, Braff and Faison teamed up once again. They now host a rewatch podcast, called Fake Doctors, Real Friends. On it, they reveal behind-the-scenes secrets from the set of Scrubs as well as their personal thoughts and feelings about the show.

The title comes from how close Braff and Faison have remained in real life. The two actors have stayed friends in the interim, and have a similar banter off-screen as they did on TV. The show’s creator, Bill Lawrence, often contributes a sound bite, and they’ve had other guest stars, like Braff’s girlfriend, Florence Pugh, on the podcast.

They want Reynolds to come on ‘Fake Doctors, Real Friends’

As of September 1, 2020, Braff and Faison have cleared through Scrubs Season 1 and are steadily making their way through season 2. In the latest episode, “My Own Private Practice Guy,” they addressed how they’d like Reynolds to appear in the upcoming episode that recaps his episode.

“We love him, but we’re not day-to-day friends with him,” clarified Braff. “So if anyone’s listening and knows Ryan Reynolds, tell him to come on the podcast.” Oddly enough, they transitioned to this subject after Faison confessed to having a crush on Reynold’s sister-in-law, Robyn Lively, growing up.

Faison then said he thinks Reynolds may not want to come on the podcast because of him. He explained he once “got so f*cking drunk” while attending a party with Braff and then approached Reynolds. After the Deadpool actor refused to hug him, Faison says he “grabbed Ryan Reynolds” and started “humping his leg like a dog.”

“I get excited when I see people who I admire,” Faison clarified of his behavior. “Ryan, you’re one of them. And it’s also ’cause I’ve known you for a really long time.” As Braff sent out a message to Reynolds, Faison chimed in, saying, “I’m so apologetic! I apologize.” Now, it’s up to Reynolds to respond.
