And what do Dr. Sandra Lee’s services typically cost?

Does Dr. Sandra Lee charge her on-show patients?

Dr. Sandra Lee’s services come highly-recommended, so it may be no surprise that fans might expect an extraction to be relatively costly. However, it seems Dr. Lee and the Dr. Pimple Popper team make sure that guests on the show are cared for free of charge.

“The production company foots the patient’s bill for their travel expenses as well as my fees,” Dr. Sandra Lee told Refinery29. Lee adds that a big reason for the show covering all of the patients’ expenses are the complications behind medical insurance and dermatology.

“Medical insurance is complicated. The rules of what dermatological procedures are covered under certain insurance plans differs state to state,” said Lee.

“Sadly, I find that the reason a lot of my patients haven’t had their condition treated is because they don’t have the money to have it done. If you have to cover a complicated surgery out of pocket, it can be very expensive.”

“A lot of these people really want these things to be removed. They’re benign and they’re not anything that needs to be removed medically, which is why insurance won’t pay,” she told Forbes.

Dr. Sandra Lee of course has patients off of Dr. Pimple Popper at her Skin Physicians and Surgeons office. Before you set up a treatment, you’ll need to have a consultation with Lee, which costs $120.

Luckily, that consult fee goes towards the price of your future treatment. Naturally, there are any number of treatments for any number of problems, so much of the cost will depend on those variables.

However, an extraction appointment, for example, will typically run a patient between $500 and $600 before insurance. As the Dr. Pimple Popper star mentioned, insurance can be problematic. However, Lee says when it comes to relatively benign problems that insurance wouldn’t cover, she’s developed a workaround.

“But now, I’ll do the extractions for free if my patients let me videotape and use the video. Of course, I make them anonymous and remove anything identifying,” she explained.
