Jump Festa 2022 is giving anime fans plenty to look forward to over the next year, and that includes the arrival of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. The film received a new trailer in the midst of the event, and it places Gohan firmly in the spotlight. Fans are excited to see the character play a bigger role in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero — and with the movie’s 2022 release date, they’ll get the opportunity sooner rather than later.

‘Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero’ gets new movie trailer at Jump Festa

Toei Animation dropped a movie trailer for Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero during the anime’s Jump Festa 2022 panel, and the footage promises to put some of the series’ supporting characters center stage.

The minute-long look at the film promises plenty of action, but it appears to center on characters like Gohan and Piccolo. That’s a change of pace from the usual battles spearheaded by Goku and Vegeta.

Judging by fan reactions to the new Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero trailer, they’re A-OK with that shift. In fact, many of them headed online to celebrate Gohan’s footage in particular.

Although Dragon Ball Super fans are excited to see all the anime’s characters in action in the upcoming movie, they’re especially enthusiastic about having Gohan play a bigger role.

Following the new trailer’s release, fans took to Reddit to express excitement over the end of the trailer, which sees Goku’s son going Super Saiyan. In addition to applauding more screentime for the character, many crossed their fingers for a project more centered on Gohan and Piccolo. As one Redditor put it:

“Hopefully, Goku and Vegeta stay on the sidelines in this movie. Some of the old DBZ movies had Goku appear in a very minor role while Vegeta did not show up at all. Let Gohan, Piccolo, and Pan be the main heroes of this film with Buu also putting in an appearance.”

That sentiment prevailed throughout the thread. Clearly, fans are pumped to have Gohan back — and to see him, Piccolo, and Pan get the attention they deserve. So, when can they see the trio in action?
