When it comes to hip-hop and rap, feuds are quite normal. Over the years, there has been major beef between artists like Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G. as well as JAY-Z and Nas. More recently, Cardi B and Nicki Minaj have been at each other’s throats and things have been quite tense between Kanye West and Drake.

The rappers’ feud started slowly before brewing and exploding in the media. Now — more than a year after it began, the Toronto-born rapper has revealed why he will never forgive Kanye West.

This is how Kanye West and Drake’s rivalry began

Though they made subtle remarks about one another over the years — the “Find Your Love” and “Jesus Walks” rappers both seemed to have a mutual respect for one another. However, that all came to a screeching halt in 2016.

During his Saint Pablo tour — West went on a rant about Drake and DJ Khaled’s “I’m On One” single from 2011. The Chicago-born rapper alleged that the rappers paid off radio stations to get their song played more. Knowing that the Life of Pablo rapper was struggling with his mental health at the time, the If You’re Reading This Is Too Late rapper clapped back.

“I’m not really sure what he’s referring to half the time,” Drake said. “Because in the same breath, I went from being…like working on a project with him, to him sorta publicly shi*ing on me and DJ Khaled for being on the radio too much. I’m not sure why we’re the target of your choice that you made that night. And yeah, I accept what you’re going through, and I just go and continue working on my own thing.”

Drake and Kanye West feud exploded in 2018

Things got even worse between the men in 2018 when rapper Pusha T released the song “Infrared” which West produced. Pusha T alleged that Drake uses a ghostwriter, he also revealed that Canadian rapper fathered a child with Sophie Brussaux; a former porn star.

Though West apologized weeks later saying he said nothing about the rapper’s son Adonis, Drake still wasn’t ready to let it go. In Sept. 2018, Drake released “In My Feelings.” On the song, he raps — “Kiki do you love me?” Kiki was alleged to be West’s wife, Kim Kardashian West, who was rumored to have hooked up with Drake in the past.

That set the College Dropout rapper off. He went on a long-winded rant saying, “People making rumors or thinking you f— my wife and you’re not saying nothing… that don’t sit well with my spirit,” West said. “You know, if I had a girlfriend from Chicago, her name was Renita, and you was married to Rihanna, I wouldn’t make no song called ‘Riri.’ So when you’re like, ‘I don’t know where it came,’ you too smart for that bro.”

Since then, the drama has died down between the men. However, there are still some very strong feelings of animosity.

This is why Drake will never forgive Kanye West

Pusha T will forever be Drake’s sworn enemy and he’s not too keen about forgiving West either. “I think that he definitely recruited a guy with a similar dislike for me,” Drake told Rap Radar. “No matter what he says in interviews, I know that. He can tell whoever, ‘Oh, I got love for [Drake],’ but it’s not love. There’s something there that bothers him deeply. I can’t fix that for him. It just is what it is. I can never, ever, ever, ever turn my back on the things that I’ve said about him in a positive light, and I still feel all of those things. I would still say that Kanye West is my favorite artist all around. I have no problem saying that. But things have just changed — I’m not just a kid who’s a fan anymore. Now we have personal situations. A lot of his issues with me…I can’t fix them for him.”
