Moss has been playing the role of June Osborne in The Handmaid’s Tale since 2017. The show is based on the book by Margaret Atwood. During an interview on the The View, Moss spoke about the similarities between The Handmaid’s Tale and the current environment we’re living in today.
The View host Joy Behar opened the discussion by giving the audience a brief background of the series: “It’s about a dystopian world where women have been stripped of all their rights,” explained Behar. She commented on how art seems to be imitating life. “You started filming this show before the present administration came into power, and [the show] is getting a lot of comparisons to what’s going on in the real world,” said Behar. Moss replied that she definitely sees the similarities:
I agree, there are a lot of comparisons. Margaret Atwood wrote this beautiful novel in 1985, and it was relevant then. She always said that everything she put into that book was either happening at that time somewhere in the world or had already happened. Unfortunately, there are a lot of parallels now closer to our home.

Elisabeth Moss made her acting debut in the 1990 TV movie Bar Girls, in which she played the role of Robin. After that, she appeared in the TV mini-series Lucky Chances. Moss made her film debut in the 1991 movie Suburban Commando. From 1992 to 1995, the actress landed a recurring role in the television series Picket Fences, in which she played the character Cynthia Parks. Moss got her big break after playing the character Polly in the 1999 movie Girl, Interrupted.
