Dynasty star Elizabeth Gillies is a married woman. She exchanged vows with her now-husband, Michael Corcoran, in August 2020, though kept the news under wraps until a profile of their big day was published a month later. Corcoran also works in the industry, and the two have a connection that dates back to her first hit show.

Elizabeth Gillies became famous for ‘Victorious’

Gillies began acting when she was a child. Aside from a recurring role in the NBC drama The Black Donnellys, she didn’t score many gigs until she was cast in the Nickelodeon sitcom Victorious, about students at a Hollywood performing arts high school for teenagers looking to make it in show business.

The series, which also starred her close friend, Ariana Grande, ran for four seasons, from 2010-2013. Gillies’ character, Jade West, is snarky and occasionally downright mean, especially when it comes to the main character, Tori. However, she’s also very talented, especially when it comes to singing.

She now stars in the CW series ‘Dynasty’

As Victorious was a big hit for Nick, Gillies soon began to earn more TV and film roles. She starred in the FX series Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll alongside Denis Leary and John Corbett. She also appeared in the 2015 movie Vacation (a continuation of the National Lampoon’s Vacation franchise) and the 2018 thriller-comedy Arizona.

But Gillies returned to the small screen in a big way with her current role. She stars in the CW reboot of the prime time soap opera Dynasty as Fallon Carrington, a wealthy heiress with tricks up her sleeve. Gillies not only leads the cast, she even played her own mother in season 2 after actor Nicollette Sheridan exited the role.

Gillies married musician Michael Corcoran in 2020

Gillies and Corcoran tied the knot on August 8, 2020. She spoke to Vogue about her big day, which was initially planned for April but had to be rescheduled due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. “Although there weren’t many of us, we were surrounded by family,” she said of the small New Jersey ceremony. “It was everything I could’ve asked for.”

“It has been such a long road for us, and at times [it] felt like a total impossibility that it was hard to believe we’d actually gotten to that moment where it was really happening,” Gillies continued. “Once we were exchanging vows…I think I turned to Michael and mouthed, ‘Oh, my God, we actually did it.’ We were so happy.”

Corcoran is a composer and musician. And a lot of the work he’s done has been for Nick. He began working for the network with the 2005 series Zoey 101 and continued onto Drake and JoshiCarly, and, naturally, Victorious. In fact, Corcoran co-wrote and/or produced songs Gillies sang, like “The Countdown” and “5 Fingaz to the Face.”

So did they know one another when Gillies was just a teenager? She didn’t cop to that in the interview, where it was written that she and Corcoran had “been dating for six years when they decided it was ultimately time to get married.” Gillies did mention their past, though. “I always had a crush on him,” she told the publication. “But I played it cool.”
