Ellen Degeneres once interviewed Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who portrayed Michelle Tanner on Full House. The twins grew up working on the show, filming videos, and becoming the youngest self-made millionaires at 10. However, when they look back at pictures from their Full House days on The Ellen Degeneres Show, even they can’t figure out which twin is playing Michelle.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen think ‘It’s weird to be called a celebrity’

The Olsen twins retired from acting in 2012, citing that they would instead produce rather than perform if they ever returned to Hollywood.

“I don’t have to be a pretty face,” Ashley told Elle UK in 2012. “I’ve done that, but now it’s important and liberating to be on the other side of the lens. I don’t like to be the center of attention anymore.”

Mary-Kate opened up about how it feels to be called rich and famous.

“It’s weird to be called a celebrity or talk about it,” Mary-Kate told Elle. “I don’t talk about being a celebrity in my business meetings. I don’t talk about it with my friends. It’s not a part of my life.”

The Olsen twins’ parents tried very hard to give the girls a normal life. They went to a regular school instead of being tutored on set. Mary-Kate thinks it’s “weird” even to see a photo of herself that a paparazzi took.

Ellen Degeneres proved the Olsen twins can’t tell themselves apart on ‘Full House’

When Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were promoting their 2004 movie New York Minute, they appeared on The Ellen Degeneres Show to discuss it. During the interview, the talk show host asked the women if they can tell each other apart when they look back at pictures. The Olsen twins explained that they were reasonably confident when they got older, but the younger images are tricky.

“These pictures are ridiculous,” Ashley tells Degeneres in the YouTube video. “I think this is too young for me to know.”

However, there is one toddler picture that the women are both sure of. Mary-Kate is on the right, Ashley is on the left. They agree that “Mary-Kate still makes that face today.”

The women admit that they sometimes watch Full House when it’s on, but they don’t know which twin is playing Michelle Tanner in the early seasons.

Mary-Kate and Ashley had no interest in returning to ‘Fuller House’

After the Olsen twins retired from acting, they continued their fashion lines, The Row, and Elizabeth and James. So, when John Stamos signed on for Fuller House, the women were preoccupied with other things.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen Rarely Do Interviews: They’re ‘Paranoid’

“Ashley said, ‘I have not been in front of a camera since I was 17, and I don’t feel comfortable acting,'” executive producer Bob Boyett told Cinema Blend. “Mary-Kate said, ‘It would have to be me because Ash doesn’t want to do it. But the timing is so bad for us.'”

While fans were disappointed, the job would not have fit well into the women’s life. They both currently live in New York City, so they would have to fly back and forth or uproot their lives to film the series.
