Who is Elsa’s New Animal Friend? Meet Everyone’s Favorite ‘Frozen 2’ Character, Bruni
The cold never bothered Frozen fans, anyway. Frozen 2 premiered in theaters this November and almost instantly, fans shared their love for Elsa, Anna, and the rest of the characters in Disney’s animated sequel. One character, in particular, stole hearts in this film, and we’re not talking about Samantha. Frozen 2 premiered in theaters during November 2019
After over five years of waiting, Frozen fans got another look into the adventures of Anna and Elsa. This time, they have to save Arendelle from impending danger and learn about their past along the way.
Disney’s Frozen 2 premiered in theaters on Nov. 22, 2019, and earned over $120 million during opening weekend, according to Business Insider. This movie includes a few new characters and creatures, from rock monsters to little fire spirits, in addition to characters from the original animated Frozen film.
There were a few new characters added to this cast
Of course, beloved characters from the original movie are featured in this Disney sequel. That includes Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Sven, and Olaf. However, there are a few new characters in Frozen 2. According to Showbiz Cheat Sheet, a character named Lieutenant Matthias is added to the cast of Frozen 2, portrayed by Sterling K. Brown.
Although viewers did briefly meet them during the first Frozen movie, Anna and Elsa’s parents reappear in this animated sequel. The original queen and king of Arendelle, Iduna and Agnarr respectively, are seen in almost flashback moments during the Frozen 2 trailer, talking to their daughters as they were younger. One new animal friend also appears in this sequel — Bruni, the blue, snow-loving salamander.

He may be little, but he’s full of spunk. This little animal is actually a fire spirit, who controls some of the fires in the enchanted forest. He’s named Bruni by Anna and Elsa, though the name is never officially established in the movie.
According to Frozen Fandom, “When set loose, he sets the entire forest ablaze, creating fires all throughout his path. He burns Elsa’s hand, but she manages to calm him down, and when he calms down, so do the forest fires. He can hear the same mysterious voice that Elsa hears and always looks to the north, guiding Elsa’s way.”
Fans can even purchase Bruni’s merchandise at retail locations, including ShopDisney and Target. Some viewers even took to social media, sharing their love for this new friend. One Twitter user said, “this is Bruni, He is the fire spirit in Frozen 2. he is my new [favorite.] I will be obsessing over him for the foreseeable future. Thank you for your time.”
Disney’s Frozen 2 is now playing in theaters. The original Frozen movie, in addition to Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, are both available on Disney’s recently-released streaming platform, entitled Disney+.
