On Sept. 25, Netflix revealed the official trailer for Emily in Paris Season 2. Although the series was heavily criticized upon its release, the 10-episode series was a huge success. When the comedy series premiered in Oct. 2020, the show topped the Netflix Top 10 list, making it the most popular comedy series of the year. Now that the streaming giant has announced a release date, here’s what fans should expect from the second season.

‘Emily in Paris’ Season 1 ended on a massive cliffhanger

Emily in Paris follows Emily (Lily Collins), an All-American woman who travels to Paris and documents her trip on social media. While working in a French marketing firm, she struggles to adjust to the workplace. In addition, she is trying to find her soulmate in the proclaimed “City of ”Love.”

In the season 1 finale, the love triangle between Emily, Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), and Camille (Camille Razat) gets even more complicated. Gabriel is preparing to leave France to open his restaurant in Normandy. 

Since Camille wants to stay in Paris, the couple breaks up, allowing Emily and Gabriel to explore their feelings. But, when Gabriel finds funding for his restaurant and decides to stay in Paris, this creates conflict. Later on, Emily receives a text from Camille that reads:  “I just heard from Gabriel. He’s staying in Paris. Can we talk??” So, what does this mean for Gabriel and Emily?

‘Emily in Paris’: What Lily Collins Loves Most About Her Character

Well, it looks like Emily has a new love interest in the second season. Before the 2021 TUDUM fan event, Netflix released the first look photos for the new season. In one particular image, Emily stands in front of the Eiffel Tower with a new love interest, Alfie (Lucien Laviscount).

According to TVLine, the official logline reads: “Now more entrenched in her life in Paris, Emily’s getting better at navigating the city but still struggling with the idiosyncrasies of French life. After stumbling into a love triangle with her neighbor and her first real French friend, Emily is determined to focus on her work — which is getting more complicated by the day. In French class, she meets a fellow ex-pat, [Alfie], who both infuriates and intrigues her.”

When is ‘Emily in Paris’ Season 2 returning to Netflix?

Emily in Paris Season 2 will feature returning cast members Lily Collins (Emily Cooper), Lucas Bravo (Gabriel), Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu (Sylvie Grateau), Ashley Park (Mindy), Samuel Arnold (Luc), Bruno Gouery (Julien), Camille Razat (Cami), and William Abadie (Antoine Lambert). 

Additionally, Kate Walsh (Madeline), Jeremy O. Harris (Gregory Elliott Dupree), and Arnaud Binard (Laurent G) will return for the second season as well. 

Creator and writer Darren Star (Sex and the City, Younger) returns as executive producer alongside Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns of Jax Media, and Andrew Fleming.
