Emotional Celine Dion Apologizes for Postponing Tour Again: ‘I’m so Sorry’

Celine Dion has once again postponed a leg of her Courage world tour. This time, health issues are the reported culprit. The music superstar performed dates on her North American leg before coronavirus (COVID-19) forced her to postpone and eventually cancel the remaining shows. In 2021 she postponed her Las Vegas residency.

Celine Dion says, ‘I need to be in top shape when I’m on stage’

In an Instagram post, legendary singer and performer Celine Dion shared a heartfelt message to fans on April 29. In the 3:07 minute clip, she explained the European leg of her Courage tour will be postponed once again to 2023.

“I’m so sorry we have to change our tour plans for Europe one more time; first we had to move the shows because of the pandemic, now it’s my health issues causing us to postpone the shows,”

According to Billboard, Dion has been experiencing “severe and persistent muscle spasms.” She said she’s doing better but is still experiencing spasms. “It’s very frustrating for me…I need to be in top shape when I’m on stage. I honestly can’t wait, but I’m just not there yet.”

The European leg will now start in Prague on Feb. 24, 2023

The “My Heart Will Go On” singer thanked fans for their patience. “I appreciate your loyalty. By now I’m convinced you should be so fed up with all of this and waiting for so long. All I can say is that I’m doing my very best to get back to the level that I need to be so I can give 100% at my shows.”

The Courage world tour European leg was supposed to start on May 25 in Birmingham, England. Dates were scheduled through Sep. of 2022. The tour will not begin until Feb. 24, 2023, in Prague and go through Oct. of 2023. Dion mentioned in her Instagram message that some dates were canceled.

Prior to March 2020, she played 52 dates on her North American leg before being forced to postpone the rest when coronavirus shut down live entertainment. In Jan. 2022, Dion canceled the rest of the North American dates.

As of now, there’s been no news on rescheduling those dates.

Celine Dion’s new Las Vegas residency has also been affected

Dion has become a staple on the Las Vegas strip for live shows. In 2003, she changed the game when it came to A-List talent doing Las Vegas residencies at the height of their career.

“A New Day” residency ran at Caesars Palace from 2003 to 2019. In 2021 she announced a new Las Vegas residency would begin at Resorts World Las Vegas. Shows were supposed to start in November of 2021. However, Dion canceled the 2021 shows in Oct. In Jan. of 2022, she canceled the rest of the scheduled residency dates for January and February.

The five-time Grammy Award winner hopes to be back on stage soon. She finished her emotional Instagram video with “hope to see you soon. Until then, you take care OK?”
