Fans of Euphoria are psyched for the next season. The teen drama series — an adaptation of a same-name Israeli TV show — became a big hit for HBO when it premiered in 2019, earning favorable reviews for its acting, writing, and visuals. The second season of Euphoria is in progress at the time of this writing, with production underway in California.

Now that work on the show has begun, information about it has started rolling out. One thing we know is that the series has added several new actors, the latest being Minka Kelly, Demetrius Flenory Jr., and Dominic Fike.

How did ‘Euphoria’ Season 1 end?

After eight episodes, Euphoria left off with Rue (Zendaya) proposing she and Jules ((Hunter Schafer) skip town together. Jules, of course, was game, but when the anxiety of running off started to set in, Rue began to freak out and rethink the idea.

She was on edge all the way to the train station, where she tearfully told Jules she couldn’t go through with the plan. Jules, unable to coax Rue into boarding the train, ultimately took off without her.

Feeling the pain of being left behind and other situations in her life, Rue had an emotional breakdown. Back at home, she consumed drugs before passing out on her bed.

What to know about ‘Euphoria’ Season 2

Euphoria was renewed for another season before it even finished airing the first episodes.

Euphoria creator Sam Levinson has built an incredible world with an extraordinary cast led by the supremely talented Zendaya,” HBO executive Francesca Orsi said in a statement shared with The Hollywood Reporter at the time. “We are so grateful that he chose HBO as the home for this groundbreaking series. We look forward to following these complex characters as their journeys continue through the challenging world they inhabit.”

Details about Euphoria Season 2 remain limited, but Zendaya previously described it to InStyle as “beautiful.”

“I think Rue has a big journey ahead of her, and a tough one,” Levinson added to The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s not something I want to cut short because of who Rue means to me as someone who has battled with addiction and come out the other side, and because I think that there’s a lot more to delve into and unpack in terms of the effects of addiction on Rue and on her family and those around her. The possibilities are endless in many ways.”

THR reported in August that Kelly, Flenory, and Fike had all joined the cast. The nature of their roles is unclear, but rumor has it that Kelly will allegedly play a suburban woman who’s “drugged-out” and that Flenory will be Maddy’s new love interest. The trio will join a cast that also includes Jacob Elordi, Maude Apatow, Angus Cloud, Eric Dane, and others.
