In Euphoria Season 2, the video of Cal and Jules continues to be an important part of the show. Maddy has been in possession of the disc this whole season, but that changed in episode 6. It seemed like Maddy was pondering using the disc to get back at Nate Jacobs, and of course, he couldn’t have that. Actor Alexa Demie revealed that at one point a scene was considered where Maddy gives the tape to Jules.

Maddy has the video of Cal and Jules in ‘Euphoria’ Season 2

Maddy holds onto the video of Cal and Jules in Euphoria Season 2, but by episode 6 Nate decides he needs to do something about it. Nate goes to Maddy’s house, where he plays a sick game of Russian Roulette until Maddy tells him where the disc is located.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, actor Alexa Demie explained why Maddy kept the tape. “She knew it was Jules, which is part of why she was wanting to hold on to it. Part of it was collateral for Nate, because he’s just f***ed her over so many times, but I think a big part of her really did want to give it to Jules, or not see Jules hurt in any way.”

In the end, it was actually Nate who gave the disc to Jules. He even apologized for everything he put Jules through, but fans are skeptical that his actions are sincere. After all, Nate has only ever thought of himself throughout the entire series.

Alexa Demie reveals an alternate storyline with the disc

Although Maddy and Jules don’t have a lot of scenes together, it’s apparent that Maddy cares about Jules and how the disc could affect her life. In one scene in Euphoria Season 2, Maddy and Jules have a heart to heart while the pair are bowling. Maddy confides in Jules, telling her she is considering getting back with Nate and Jules advises against it.

Demie revealed to Entertainment Weekly that there was an alternative ending to what Maddy does with the disc. “It was something that Sam and I spoke about a lot when we first got back for season 2. It’s something that I also brought up a lot. And there were different ways it was written, many different ways of what was gonna happen with the disc.”

“There was a moment where I was gonna give the tape to Jules with a letter saying, ‘I think you’d want this,’ and not say who was giving it to her, but give it back to her, which felt really nice for me,” Demie revealed. “And there was a part of me that really wanted to see that happen, but I think the way it goes down keeps the story going, and it’s drama.”

Many fans prefer the alternative story

Unsurprisingly, many fans were upset that the storyline of Maddy giving the tape to Jules didn’t make the final cut. “This would have been so much better. More interesting for all the characters,” one Reddit user wrote. “I wish it had of gone this way. The more grounded and realistic moments in the show are the best parts,” another fan agreed.

Some fans believe that Nate returning the tape could be setting up Nate and Jules as romantic interests later in the season. Nate previously tricked Jules through an online dating profile. However, he tells her that he meant all the things he said while the pair were flirting online. Only time will tell if Nate is being sincere, and there are plenty of skeptics who would urge Jules not to trust him.
