How he got his role in ‘The Kissing Booth’

While speaking with Vanity Fair, Elordi discussed his rise to fame and getting cast in The Kissing Booth. Originally, Elordi was auditioning for soap operas in Sydney when he got the role. Before accepting, he had to think seriously if the movie series would be the right move for him.

“I’m a purist and love the movie theater, so I had this weird moral battle of ‘What am I aiding and abetting? Am I the face of this robotic, terrifying new age? Am I murdering this thing that I love?’ But there was this mentality of, ‘I’ll do whatever the f*ck I’ve got to do to get to the United States and do what I love.'”

Elordi’s future project Deep Water is set to premiere on Aug. 13, 2021. The movie follows Vic Van Allen (Affleck) and his wife Melinda Van Allen (de Armas) who have fallen out of love with each other. A psychological thriller, the two play deadly mind games with one another. Elordi plays a lover to de Armas’ Melinda.

“She had me on my toes and was surprising every single take,” Elordi told Vanity Fair about de Armas.

For Elordi, it was a huge honor to be able to act in the same movie as Affleck because Affleck is “a hero” to him.

“I have a picture in my house of him and Matt Damon with the Oscars for Good Will Hunting,” he said.

What Jacob Elordi thought about working with Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas

In an interview with E! News, Elordi shared more about his experience working on Deep Water.

“Probably my favorite experience of recent was making Deep Water, and to kind of step back and watch these like titans of film make a movie,” Elordi said. “I could just sort of linger around and play a small role and you know be involved in a movie that I would really watch and enjoy.”

Elordi also had a lot of praise for Affleck and de Armas.

“They are such wonderful performers and they’ve really earned their stripes,” he told E! News. “We’d sit and jive a little bit, but I mean probably just watching what they do and seeing how they do it is a lesson in itself.”

Currently, Elordi stars as Nate Jacobs in HBO’s Euphoria. The show is set to make a brief return with a special episode on Dec. 6.
