‘Euphoria’ Season 2 Star Sidney Sweeney Talks About ‘Letting Loose’ as Cassie Howard
HBO’s hit series Euphoria’s graphic reputation often precedes it, and it’s not a show known for holding back. From explicit sex scenes involving teen characters to an abundance of drug use, the series certainly knows how to make jaws drop. However, in Euphoria Season 2 Episode 4, Cassie Howard showed audiences another type of “gross.”

‘Euphoria’ Season 2 star Sidney Sweeney loved ‘letting loose as Cassie’ in the balloon scene
In Euphoria Season 2 Episode 4, Cassie hosts a birthday party for Maddy (Alexa Demie) at her house. Cassie’s mom provides alcohol for the teens as long as they promise not to tell their parents. Sweeney told Decider she enjoyed the scenes in the episode where Cassie finally let loose in the basement of her home. With no one else around, and the cast actually watching off-screen, Sweeney’s Cassie enjoyed a moment to herself dancing with balloons.
“It was a lot of fun. I was enjoying that because I finally got to let loose as Cassie and…it was cool. And I actually got very tangled [in the balloons]. To the point that they had to call cut because it was all around my neck,” Sweeney said.
Maude Apatow, who plays Lexi in the series, praised Sweeney’s performance in Euphoria Season 2 Episode 4, “Sydney was so good, the dancing with the balloons. We were all gathered around the monitor watching her, like dying. She’s so good.”
The party at Cassie’s house featured several of the main cast members. Sweeney added, “But I always love these kinds of scenes where we’re all together because a lot of times we don’t get to have many scenes where we have a bunch of girls together and we were literally in one room. So, it was chaotic but fun.”

When Nate arrives at the party, and Cassie drinks too much to calm her nerves, the situation escalates. When Maddy becomes angry with Nate, she repeats everything he said to her in the past regarding their relationship. This results in Cassie throwing up all over herself, her friends, and Nate in the middle of the hot tub.
While Sweeney loved the scene in the basement with the balloons in Euphoria Season 2, she felt quite different about throwing up in the hot tub. “During the hot tub scene, during the throwing up, I got really grossed out. They had this invisible tube that looked like a horse bit and they put it in my mouth and I had to somehow hold and make it look semi-normal and then throw up over everyone which was…it was so gross.”
‘Euphoria’ Season 2’s scene involving vomit is much tamer than what viewers usually see
While Cassie’s unfortunate case of vomiting might be considered one of the more disgusting scenes in a series, it’s hard to top the other moments the characters experience in Euphoria. In the first episode of Euphoria Season 2, fans watched as Rue Bennett (Zendaya) overdosed on drugs. To top that, she then took more drugs to bring herself back from the brink of death. At this point, fans know they should prepare for anything.
